House Dem threatens to expand Supreme Court, abolish Senate filibuster to pass gun control

As has become typical after every major mass shooting incident, Democrats have furiously demanded the imposition of stricter gun control laws to unconstitutionally further undermine, if not render entirely null, the inalienable Second Amendment-protected right of the people to keep and bear arms.

One Democrat who took those demands to an extreme is progressive leftist Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY), who asserted that his party would do “whatever it takes” to achieve their anti-gun goals — including abolishing the Senate filibuster and expanding the Supreme Court, if necessary, Fox News reported.

Threats issued over GOP obstruction of gun control

Rep. Jones is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, which held an emergency markup hearing Thursday on a package of new or rehashed gun control proposals collectively dubbed the “Protecting Our Kids Act.”

At one point during the hearing, Jones delivered an impassioned five-minute speech on how important it was to him and others that this legislation be passed, and he excoriated his “selfish” Republican colleagues for having stood in opposition to the left’s insistence that the Second Amendment be neutered and the rights of lawful gun owners infringed upon.

“Enough is enough. Enough of you telling us that school shootings are a fact of life when every other country like ours has virtually ended it. Enough of you blaming mental illness and then defunding mental health care in this country. Enough of your thoughts and prayers,” the young congressman ranted.

“You will not stop us from advancing the Protecting Our Kids Act today,” he continued. “If the filibuster obstructs us, we will abolish it. If the Supreme Court objects, we will expand it. And we will not rest until we have taken weapons of war out of circulation in our communities.”

“Each and every day, we will do whatever it takes to end gun violence — whatever it takes,” Jones added. “What we will do is not fail the children of this country the way that you have failed us.”

Dems have admitted how far they are willing to go

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the ranking Republican on that committee, responded to his colleague’s anti-gun and anti-GOP rant and told Fox News, “Now we know where they want to go. He just said it. End the filibuster. Expand the court. Forget the Constitution. Now, we know.”

“Democrats blame guns. They criticize the NRA. They call Republicans names. But let’s be honest, they’ve told us what they want to do. Their real beef is with the Second Amendment,” the congressman added. “Their goal, plain and simple, is to get rid of the Second Amendment. Joe Biden said it the other day, said he wants to ban 9mm handguns.”

Indeed, it was on Monday that President Joe Biden, while speaking to reporters, suggested that 9mm handguns — the most popular and ubiquitous caliber firearm in the entire nation — were a “high caliber” weapon for which “there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of thinking about self-protection, hunting. I mean, I just — and remember, the Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute.”

As for Rep. Jones’ threat to abolish the Senate’s filibuster — the 60-vote threshold necessary to advance legislation — or to “pack the court” with additional left-leaning jurists, numerous Democrats have made those same exact threats for multiple reasons over the past couple of years, and they are as unlikely to happen now as they were previously for any of the other stalled-out leftist agenda items that have infuriated the left’s activist base.
