Protesters across the country decry not guilty verdict in Rittenhouse case

Upon hearing the not guilty verdict Friday in the murder case against 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, a woman outside the courthouse yelled “F*** America!” before collapsing onto the steps and apparently having a seizure, the Tampa Free Press reported.

Rittenhouse was being tried for shooting three people on Aug. 25, 2020, during riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. On Friday, the jury found that Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time, acted in self-defense after he was threatened and attacked first.

Two of the people Rittenhouse shot with an AR-15 while unofficially protecting a car dealership died. The third testified that he pointed his gun at Rittenhouse just before he was shot.

Protesters wail

Protesters across the country loudly decried the verdict. “The whole damn system is guilty as hell!” one demonstrator shouted, the New York Post reported.

“If [Rittenhouse] was Black, he would have been f*****g executed on the street,” another protester told the Post. “If he was Black, he would have been dead or in jail.”

“Race plays a part, because if it was me who shot people, I’d still be in jail,” Shequila Morrison, a 38-year-old from Milwaukee, told the Post. “I would have still been in jail till my trial, and they probably would have put my a** underneath the jail.”

One Kenosha resident opined to the outlet: “I’m not surprised. We all knew this was going to happen.”

But while rioters smashed windows of stores in Portland, Oregon, it remained peaceful in Kenosha on Friday night, reports said.

Celebrities rail

Many high-profile celebs railed against the verdict, however.

“We just witnessed a system built on white supremacy validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist,” former NFL star Colin Kaepernick tweeted.

“It has now been put it out there that vigilantes can just go and kill people protesting issues like racial equality whenever they want and get away with it. Think about that for a second,” said actor Josh Gad, according to USA Today.

The hyperbolic language and logical fallacies celebrities used about the verdict were trumped only by the lies the media fed them to get them to think that way.
