It was recently revealed in a bombshell report that top aides to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) interfered with and rewrote a health department report last summer in a deliberate attempt to conceal the true death toll from COVID-19 in the state’s nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Fox News‘ senior meteorologist Janice Dean, who lost both of her in-laws to COVID-19 in nursing homes, is now demanding that Cuomo and his aides go to jail for their criminal deception of the public to avoid accountability for the consequences of their fatal policies.
Appearing Friday on Fox & Friends, Dean said of Cuomo and his team, “He needs to go to jail and all of those around him. There is no ifs, and’s or but’s here.”
“Needs to go to jail”
“We knew that he was covering up the numbers, and now we are getting more and more information and facts that this is true,” Dean said in reference to the news of the report rewritten by Cuomo’s aides to hide the true number of COVID-19 fatalities among elderly nursing home residents, Mediaite reported.
“The fact that Melissa de Rosa, his top aide, was in on it to help cover up the numbers to downplay them,” Dean continued, “she was the one in the Democratic lawmaker meeting behind closed doors, apologizing to Democratic lawmakers saying ‘I’m so sorry for keeping the information from you, we were afraid of the DOJ investigation.'”
“They have never apologized to the families, 15,000 families that deserve an apology,” Dean said.
“The only thing the governor is sorry for is the fact that he got caught, and you know what, he needs to go to jail and all of them around him. There is no if and or but here,” Dean added.
Conspiracy to conceal true death toll
Fox News noted that according to the news reports of interference by the Cuomo administration, the governor’s top aides had intercepted a report in June that was set to be released to the public by the state’s health department regarding the status at that time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cuomo’s top aides reduced the reported number of COVID-19 fatalities in nursing homes by only counting those who had died inside a facility while excluding those residents who had died after being transported to a hospital.
What that means is that the fudged report only indicated that roughly 6,432 nursing home residents had perished from the virus when, in reality, the number was likely around 10,000 or more.
Now that more accurate numbers have been gleaned from public health officials and the Cuomo administration’s cover-up was exposed, it appears as if upwards of 15,000 or more nursing home residents died due to COVID-19 infections since the pandemic began about a year ago.
A majority of those deaths can almost certainly be attributed to Cuomo’s March 25 order — quietly rescinded a few months later — that forced nursing homes to accept COVID-19-positive patients among their particularly vulnerable populations of seniors, and somebody, including Cuomo and those who conspired with him, must be held accountable.
