The White House meeting between President Donald Trump and Democrats Schumer and Pelosi is being lauded as a major win for Democrats by the liberal media.
But columnist David Limbaugh wants everyone to pump the brakes a bit, declaring in his Friday column that the Oval Office meeting was a major victory for Donald Trump.
The tone of the meeting between the ranking Democrats and Trump, flanked by Vice President Mike Pence, was hostile right from the start.
The media, however, only focused on what Trump said and completely ignored the tone and aggressiveness of both Pelosi and Schumer.
Save a few outlets, everyone was reporting on how willing Trump is to shut down the government over his long-promised border wall.
At the same time, the media is neglecting the fact that both Pelosi and Schumer are also willing to shut the government down in hopes of preventing the funding of the border wall.
The media also neglected to note how both Pelosi and Schumer were purposely poking Trump, hoping to get him to go off in public.
Public Vs. Private
Where Limbaugh really called out the Democrats in his column was in their unwillingness to negotiate publicly over the wall, something Trump has been more than willing to do.
When this subject was broached by Trump, Pelosi immediately went on the attack, once again taking no blame for the role Democrats are playing in a possible government shutdown.
Pelosi even went out of her way to call it a “Trump shutdown.”
Of all things, Pelosi then brought religion into it, trying to make herself out as innocent in this immigration conflict.
“We’re here to have a conversation in a prayerful way, so I don’t think we should have a debate in front of the press,” she said.
But Americans could not disagree more.
We would love to see Trump, Pence, Schumer, and Pelosi hammer this problem out in public so we know exactly where everyone stands.
Dems won’t do that though, because they know they will come off as obstructionists who have no interest in actually finding a bipartisan solution.
They know the longer they drag this out, they can say Trump was unable to deliver on a campaign promise.
They will also use the stance to continue to push their racist narrative against Trump.
Regardless of what Schumer and Pelosi say in public, they have no intention whatsoever of negotiating the immigration issue in good faith. What a shame.
