CNN’s Chris Cuomo faces pushback for allegedly politicizing Alex Trebek’s cancer diagnosis

March 11, 2019 by Jerry McCormick

CNN’s Chris Cuomo takes shots at President Donald Trump on a nightly basis.

However, when Cuomo used the cancer diagnosis of Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek to launch another veiled attack, it was a new low — even for him.

No Class

Last week, the entire nation was stunned to hear that the 78-year-old Trebek was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Indeed, many of us have let Trebek into our homes on a nightly basis for decades.

And while millions of his fans have never met him, many of those very same people consider him to be like a family member.

But rather than use the night solely as a tribute to Trebek’s impact on American life, which may soon be coming to an unfortunate end, Cuomo decided to politicize his tribute, tweeting:

The opening line of Cuomo’s tweet, which highlights “what is keeping us apart” in America, is clearly a shot not only at President Trump, but also at conservatives in general.

Setting Politics Aside

But despite ongoing quips from Cuomo and his colleagues, the American people are sick and tired of having politics interjected into every aspect of their lives.

This was made painfully clear when many boycotted the NFL when it became politicized by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

If that’s not enough, just look at the celebrities who have been boycotted by fans over politics.

If Cuomo had an ounce of class in his body, he would have made this completely about Trebek rather than politicizing the Jeopardy! host’s diagnosis.

There simply was no need to take the veiled shot at Trump and his supporters in the process. But this is what Cuomo does.

Night after night, he bashes the president and takes cheap shots at conservatives.

He talks out of both sides of his mouth to justify himself, but does nothing but prove Trump right that CNN is fake news with only one purpose: to undermine the Trump presidency.
