CNN anchor Chris Cuomo recently revealed that he had finally tested negative for COVID-19, and he made a large production about “emerging” from his basement to be reunited with his family.
Though the elder Cuomo is finally on the mend after nearly three weeks, the family’s difficult battle is not over. Cuomo’s wife disclosed this week that their 14-year-old son Mario is now positive for the coronavirus, the New York Post reports.
Chris Cuomo returns
On March 31, it was announced that Chris Cuomo had been tested positive for COVID-19. While the CNN anchor continued to host his daily show from home, he would often tell of horrible nights and high fevers.
During one show with his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), Chris Cuomo even stated he was having hallucinations, CBS News reported.
Chris Cuomo staged a big entrance back into the upstairs of his home on Monday evening, claiming he was being reunited with them for the first time since his self-quarantine, a claim that wasn’t entirely true.
According to Fox News, the anchor broke his quarantine by traveling to his second home over Easter weekend, where he got into an altercation with a cyclist who called him out for not remaining quarantined despite having an active case of COVID-19.
Mario tests positive
Two weeks after Chris Cuomo tested positive for the virus, he revealed that his wife had also been infected.
With both the father and mother having contracted the virus, it seemed almost imminent that at least one of the Cuomo children would contract it as well. Cuomo’s wife, Cristina, announced Mario’s diagnosis via her Instagram account on Wednesday.
“This virus has created a different version of me. My hope is to be stronger, healthier, smarter about the virus at large. After 10 days of ups and downs, feeling good one-day and terrible the next, I am now working hard to get my son, Mario, through the virus,” she wrote, according to the New York Post.
She went on: “My heart hurts more than my head over his infection. This virus does not discriminate. While kids are more resilient, they can suffer same severity of symptoms. I’m applying a modified version of my remedies for his protocol with a focus on lots of vitamins.
“Since his sense of smell and taste have disappeared, I am feeding him healthy foods that I normally can’t get him to touch,” Cristina Cuomo continued. “I kept a diary of the past week including my remedies and things that I did to stay sane through it all.”
One can only hope Mario and the rest of the Cuomo family make speedy recoveries.
