President Joe Biden is being widely criticized for remarks that he made during his State of the Union address in support of transgender procedures for youth, the Daily Wire reported.
Many are accusing Biden of not truly supporting transgender youth, despite what he claims, and others are going so far as to call Biden “cruel.”
Recently, across the country, there has been a lot of transgender-related legislation passed. Some of this legislation stops minors from being able to get transgender surgeries and hormones for transitioning, while other laws stop transitioning biological males, for example, from being able to participate in women’s sports.
It is these sorts of laws that Biden appeared to speak out against during his State of the Union address on Tuesday, where he railed against the “onslaught of state laws targeting transgender Americans and their families.”
“As I said last year, especially to our younger transgender Americans, I’ll always have your back as your President so you can be yourself and reach your God-given potential,” Biden said.
Biden, accordingly, called for Congress to pass the Equality Act. “For our LGBTQ+ Americans, let’s finally get the bipartisan Equality Act to my desk,” Biden said.
Breitbart News reports: “If passed, the bill would effectively bar Americans’ ability to preserve single-sex institutions — including womens’ swimming contests — because the law enables men and women to select opposite-sex identities under the guise of ‘gender identity.'”
Among those to call Biden out on this issue is American Principles Project President Terry Schilling.
“If Joe Biden actually supported transgender kids he’d support legal protections for the ones who regret their transitions, he’d talk about de-transitioners and the many kids who were rushed into these procedures,” Schilling said.
“But he doesn’t support transgender kids,” Schilling added. “He supports a corrupt medical community that’s exploiting these kids for profit.”
Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), on the other hand, implied that Biden is “cruel” for pushing “drastic and irreversible medical procedures on children.” “The doctors and politicians who promote these surgeries are harming kids, and I’m working on a plan to hold them accountable,” Banks said.
Reports indicate that the Equality Act is no closer to getting passed.
