CNN’s Chris Cuomo went absolutely NUTS on camera the other day and threatened to commit aggravated assault after someone jokingly referred to him as “Fredo” – which is a reference to the “Godfather” film trilogy. According to the New York Times:
“Chris Cuomo, the CNN anchor and member of a New York political dynasty, unleashed a spate of profanity-laced insults and threatened to throw a man down some stairs after the man apparently called him Fredo, a reference to the ‘Godfather’ film trilogy, according to a video that spread across social media on Monday night.”
Cuomo’s decision to respond with anger has reportedly caused a lot of heartache at CNN, according to a recent story by Fox News:
“CNN staff ‘embarrassed’ by Chris Cuomo’s Fredo flap… Insiders say that — while CNN brass stood by Chris Cuomo after he was caught on camera threatening a man who called him ‘Fredo’ — the newsroom rank and file was ’embarrassed’ by the blowup.”
Since the recent blowup, President Donald Trump has been using Chris Cuomo as an example of why Red Flag gun laws wouldn’t work. Because if the government is allowed to take away guns from people labeled “mentally unstable”, then people like Chris Cuomo could potentially be targeted by the government and stripped from owning a weapon.
According to President Trump on Twitter:
“Would Chris Cuomo be given a Red Flag for his recent rant? Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn’t be allowed to have any weapon. He’s nuts!”
Trump’s tweet instantly won the approval of people on the internet. Dana Loesch even commended the president, saying:
“With one Tweet POTUS explains how red flag laws can and will be abused.”
Say what you will about Chris Cuomo, but his actions truly are indefensible. An intelligent person would have just ignored the comment. But unstable Cuomo couldn’t control himself, and as a result will forever be stuck with the nickname that he finds so offensive.
Irrational, overly emotional violent behavior – This is CNN.
