Clinton’s attempt to compare Trump to Hitler backfires

Fox News reports that Hillary Clinton is getting blasted for her recent comparison of former President Donald Trump to Adolph Hitler.

In case you missed it, Clinton made the comparison while speaking at the Texas Tribune Festival that was held in Austin, Texas, on Friday.

“I remember as a young student, you know, trying to figure out, how people get basically brought in by Hitler,” Clinton began. “How did that happen?”

Clinton continued, “I’d watch newsreels and I’d see this guy standing up there ranting and raving, and people shouting and raising their arms. I thought, ‘What’s happened to these people?'”

The comparison

Clinton went on to try to draw a link between these events that Hitler held and the events that Trump holds.

Clinton, in particular, referenced the recent rally that Trump held in Youngstown, Ohio, last Saturday. The former president was campaigning for U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Vance.

At the end of Trump’s speech, some supporters in the crowd raised their index fingers in the air. This is what caught Clinton’s attention. Apparently, it reminded her of the stiff-arm solute that used to be given to Hitler, even though the two gestures are significantly different.

“You saw the rally in Ohio the other night?” Clinton asked. “Trump is there ranting and raving for more than an hour, and you have these rows of young men with their arms raised. I thought, ‘what is going on?'”

Just “desperate”

Taylor Budowich, one of Trump’s spokesmen, responded to Clinton’s comparison, saying, “it seems like perpetual-failed-candidate Hillary Clinton’s basket of deplorables has run stale, not unlike herself. It’s pathetic, it’s divisive, and it is further cementing her legacy of cringe.”

Even harsher criticism, though, came from Fox News contributor Tyrus.

On a recent broadcast of The Five, Tyrus said:

It’s the desperate attempt of someone who has lost the argument. They’ve lost the argument, and they only talk in echo chambers. She’s so lazy with it, she wouldn’t even stand up and show any emotion. She just sat there in her chair, and I thought she was so confused with how people were fighting and Hitler, and there was this same thing. They don’t even put emotion and thought. They just speak to hear themselves speak.

You can say that again.
