Just when we all thought Hillary Clinton was finally ready to leave the 2020 race alone, she shows right back up with some sage advice for Democrat voters.
During a Q&A session at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Hillary Clinton admonished Democrats to put away their principles and vote for the candidate that will win in 2020.
Here we go again
“I think the most important message is we are … in a real struggle with a form of politics that is incredibly negative, exclusive, mean-spirited, and it’s going to be up to every voter, not only people who vote in Democratic primaries to recognize that this is no ordinary time,” Clinton remarked on Friday.
Clinton went on to remind Democrats to take their vote “seriously” and that Democratic voters should “try to vote for the person you think is most likely to win because, at the end of the day, that is what will matter.”
Unfortunately, Democrats already tried this approach in 2016 and it fell considerably short. Now, the main culprit, Hillary Clinton, is telling voters to take the same exact approach they took in 2016 if they want to beat Trump.
It didn’t work out so well then, and it won’t work out this time either. Democrats are starting to sense that the current panel of Democrat candidates is uninspiring to the American people, and Democrat leadership is beginning to panic.
Same old, same old
The really funny thing here is that Hillary Clinton is not the only one spreading this message. During the most recent debate, several Democrat candidates have uttered those very same words.
Forget about policy, the most important thing everyone needs to come together on is beating Trump, they say. So, we have come full circle to Clinton’s unofficial campaign slogan in 2016 … “I am not Trump, so vote for me.”
Honestly, Dems would be better served to be more like Trump if they wanted to win.
After all, he has demolished unemployment, improved weekly paychecks, stimulated the economy (without a multi-trillion-dollar stimulus package), rebuilt our military, overhauled the VA, created better trade deals, and now he is even getting that border wall started.
All of these changes have led to better lives for Americans, something voters can all actually latch onto. These were not empty promises, made to be broken but rather promises committed to and then delivered upon.
So, if all 2020 Democrats have to go on is that that they are not Donald Trump, they’ll have a pretty steep hill to climb if they expect to win back the White House.
