While the recent Michael Cohen hearing failed in its rather obvious goal of implicating President Donald Trump in criminal activity, it succeeded in at least one regard: exposing the “deep state” behind the Russia-Collusion investigation.
The Washington Times has published a long and detailed report highlighting the ubiquitousness of Clinton and Obama loyalists in the investigation, referring to them as the “instigators in the Justice Department’s 33-month-long Russia probe of President Trump and his family.”
The man behind the Cohen hearing
If you watched the hearing, then you may have recognized the man who sat behind Cohen and who was frequently seen advising him on what to say in response to questioning. That individual is attorney Lanny Davis, who is now Cohen’s top strategist and advisor.
Davis is a longtime Clinton loyalist, having worked as both an attorney and spokesperson for both Bill and Hillary in the past. Not only that, but he is about as anti-Trump as it gets, having written a book, The Unmaking of the President 2016, which made an argument for why Congress was duty bound to pursue impeachment.
According to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, it was Davis who was the driving force behind Wednesday’s hearing. He reportedly practically forced it upon the chairman, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD).
“This is the Michael Cohen hearing presented by Lanny Davis,” he said. “That’s right. Lanny Davis choreographed the whole darn thing.”
Clintons still pulling the strings
Jordan went on to give his own synopsis of the investigation thus far.
“I’ll say one thing about the Democrats, they stick to the playbook,” he said. “Remember how all this started. The Clinton campaign hired Perkins Coie law firm, who hired Glenn Simpson, who hired a foreigner — Christopher Steele — who put together the fake dossier that the FBI used to go get a warrant to spy on the Trump campaign.
“But when that whole scheme failed,” Jordan continued, “and the American people said, ‘We’re going to make Donald Trump president,’ they said, ‘We got to do something else.’ So now, Clinton loyalist-slash-Clinton operative Lanny Davis has persuaded the chairman of the Oversight Committee to give a convicted felon a forum to tell stories and lie about the president of the United States so they can all start their impeachment process.”
This was backed up by former Trump attorney John Down, who told the Times, “Today a convicted liar sponsored by Lanny Davis illustrates the heart of the dossier. The truth is irrelevant as [Rep. Adam] Schiff so ably demonstrated by reading it into the record in 2017.”
The witch hunt
If Davis is indeed to blame for the Cohen hearing, then it is another name to add to the ever-growing list of ties between Democrat partisan actors and the Russia investigation.
Readers who have kept up on this story will remember how the investigation was largely based on the Steele dossier funded by Hillary’s campaign, how Obama-era FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page furthered it, and how it is being investigated by Robert Mueller, who still has at least two major Clinton supporters on his staff: Andrew Weissmann and Jeannie Rhee, who has previously provided legal representation to Mrs. Clinton and the Clinton Foundation.
And these are just a few of the names gleaned from the much longer list of Democrat loyalists compiled by the Times.
When the full scope of this scenario is considered, it appears that there was collusion taking place all along: collusion among the Clintons and other key Democrats to achieve the impeachment of Donald Trump.
