Brace yourself for this one.
Reports indicate that Hillary Clinton has co-written a novel that is set to be released in just over a week’s time.
The name of the book is State of Terror, and it’s been labeled a “political thriller,” according to The Guardian. Clinton co-authored the book with best-selling author Louise Penny in what is the failed Democrat presidential hopeful’s first go at a fiction work.

Amazon bills the book as “a novel of unsurpassed thrills and incomparable insider expertise.”
According to a description from the publisher, the book picks up with a new U.S. administration being sworn in, and follows the White House’s young, new female secretary of state as she and others in the executive branch grapple with a series of terrorist attacks on the nation.
“What begins as a series of apparent terrorist attacks is revealed to be the beginning of an international chess game involving the volatile and Byzantine politics of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran; the race to develop nuclear weapons in the region; the Russian mob; a burgeoning rogue terrorist organization; and an American government set back on its heels in the international arena,” the description of the book on Amazon reads.
As the horrifying scale of the threat becomes clear, Secretary Adams and her team realize it has been carefully planned to take advantage of four years of an American government out of touch with international affairs, out of practice with diplomacy, and out of powerin the places where it counts the most.
“To defeat such an intricate, carefully constructed conspiracy, it will take the skills of a unique team: a passionate young FSO; a dedicated journalist; and a smart, determined, but as yet untested new secretary of state,” the description concludes.
A look ahead
Clearly, the book is at least in part a not-so-thinly veiled attack on former President Donald Trump. Whether or not Clinton sees herself as the main character who presumably saves the day remains unclear.
In any case, the book is set to be released Oct. 12, and there’s no doubt Clinton will be prancing around promoting it in the days to come. But Hillary isn’t the only one trying to cash in on the Clinton name.
Former President Bill Clinton has also recently thrown his hat in the publishing ring, working with best-selling crime writer James Patterson to craft a series of books, the latest of which TIME magazine called a “page-turner presidential thriller.”
It’s a great distraction as Special Counsel John Durham, who is investigating the origins of the infamous Trump–Russia collusion hoax, closes in on associates of Hillary Clinton who may have had a role in perpetuating what was later proven to be a flat-out lie.
