Former President Bill Clinton has long been hounded by accusations of infidelity, but a new allegation regarding an alleged mistress has emerged in the context of his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
A new book delving into the mystery surrounding Epstein’s death advances a claim that Clinton carried on a years-long affair with British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, a close acquaintance of Epstein, the New York Post reports.
“That’s why he was around Epstein”
In their forthcoming book, A Convenient Death: The Mysterious Demise of Jeffrey Epstein, investigative journalists Alana Goodman and Daniel Halper provided details of the alleged affair, which Clinton has denied.
An unnamed source cited by the authors claimed to have witnessed the relationship firsthand, asserting that it was Maxwell who initiated the friendship between Clinton and Epstein.
“[Bill] and Ghislaine were getting it on,” the source alleged, according to the Post. “That’s why he was around Epstein — to be with her.”
As for allegations that Clinton joined Epstein in having sex with underage girls, the source described Clinton as “stupid but not an idiot,” adding that the former president was solely interested in pursuing Maxwell.
“You couldn’t hang out with her without being with him,” the source said of Clinton’s incentive to pal around with Epstein, according to the Post. “Clinton just used him like everything else.”
Although no direct evidence has surfaced to confirm such a sexual relationship, the book notes that Clinton and Maxwell were seen together publicly on a number of occasions.
Little St. James Island
Epstein accuser Virginia Guiffre testified in court during his trial that Clinton had been present on the defendant’s plane and personal island. She denied any relationship with the former president, however.
Clinton has admitted to taking a handful of flights on Epstein’s plane and denied ever visiting his island or having any knowledge about the sex crimes being perpetrated there.
In addition to a statement this week denying the claims, a Clinton spokesperson previously insisted that “he has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstine’s ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida,” as the U.K.’s Independent reported.
Since Epstein’s death behind bars in August, rumors have swirled regarding the possibility that it was not a simple suicide. The most recent claims surrounding Clinton are sure to only amplify that speculation.
