ABC 7 reports that an individual with a concealed carry permit appears to have thwarted a car theft.
This is one of those news stories that completely decimates the political left’s gun control narrative.
The incident, according to the Chicago Police Department, took place early on Saturday morning – around 3:30 a.m. – in Chicago, Illinois, specifically in the Loop’s 0-100 block of West Randolph Street.
The local outlet CWB Chicago reports:
The victim was walking to his car from the Cambria Hotel, 32 West Randolph, when someone fired shots at him from a red SUV, according to Chicago police. He returned fire, and the SUV sped away.
The victim is only being identified as a 31-year-old man with a Firearms Owners Identification (FOID) card and a concealed carry license. In other words, a man who has the right to lawfully own and conceal-carry a firearm.
The outlet continues:
Meanwhile, another offender who was inside the victim’s parked car got out and ran from the scene. Officers said the offenders left a tool and a phone near the victim’s car.
That’s not the end of the story
It wasn’t long thereafter that a red Jeep was seen arriving at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Exiting the Jeep and entering the hospital was a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his knee.
Around the same time, a 24-year-old man entered the Lurie Children’s Hospital with a gunshot wound of his own. He ended up being transferred to Northwestern.
Now, both men are in police custody, as it appears that they were involved in the incident described above – although the situation is still being investigated.
The red Jeep – which had bullet holes in it – ended up being abandoned at the hospital. And, not far from the Jeep police found two ammunition magazines.
This is why the 2nd Amendment exists
Here, we have an incident in which a man single-handedly was able to stave off a multi-faceted attack involving multiple attackers with weapons all because he himself had a weapon. It’s the exact purpose of the Second Amendment, and thus, completely undermines the left’s anti-Second Amendment narrative.
It would be wrong to think that these situations are rare. ABC 7 reports:
Police are still investigating the attack as it joins the growing number of incidents where armed residents are shooting their alleged attackers to avoid becoming victims of a crime.
Northwestern, in its reports, provides additional examples.
It shows, very clearly, that good guys – i.e. law-abiding citizens – with guns aren’t the problem. If anything, they’re the solution.
