It has now been almost two months since CNN’s Chris Cuomo said he had fully recovered from his bout with the coronavirus.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Cuomo says some “funky stuff” is still going on with his health that has him a bit concerned.
Something’s not right
The aftereffects of COVID-19 are still relatively unknown. But Cuomo, the brother of New York’s Democrat governor, is now providing a bit more insight into what some people can expect after they have recovered.
Cuomo, who was in self-quarantine at the end of March and beginning of April, has been technically “recovered” from the virus for almost two months now, but he says something is still not right.
The CNN anchor recently had his bloodwork redone as a follow-up, and according to the Daily Mail, he said there is some “weird stuff going on” with his lungs. There was also some “funky stuff” present in the recent blood work, he said.
“People who’ve been through this have strange tales to tell and not a lot of great answers from doctors to weird stuff in their blood work. I’m one of them,” Cuomo remarked Tuesday, as the Daily Mail reported. “I still have weird stuff going on with my lungs. I’m not back to where I was before I had the virus, but I can work.”
That should not be all that surprising, as Cuomo worked throughout his quarantine for the virus. While he never showed symptoms on-air, he did say that he had some rough nights and was even hallucinating at one point.
Not the only one
According to Cuomo, the experience he is having with the coronavirus is the same as many others are experiencing. That is part of the reason he is going public with his health, as he believes it will offer some comfort to those who are still feeling the lingering effects of the disease.
“People like to suffer together. So as long as there are other people who have the same kind of funky blood work, I’ll just keep taking it one day at a time,” Cuomo said Tuesday.
Perhaps that’s indeed the best strategy for Cuomo, who has come under scrutiny recently for playing the bit of a martyr throughout his COVID-19 experience, with some people even questioning if he ever really had any serious symptoms.
He and CNN were both criticized for the staged “coronavirus resurrection” after he finally tested negative and had fully recovered, as the Washington Examiner reported.
It does not help his case that both the CNN host and his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, have cracked jokes about the coronavirus pandemic on CNN. Most recently, the Cuomo brothers joked about the size of a swab that would be needed to test the governor, a remark that immediately drew backlash.
