In a bold move to enhance efficiency, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has announced a major restructuring of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), promising a workforce reduction of over 40% by year's end.
This strategic overhaul, dubbed 'ODNI 2.0,' is aimed at enhancing national security effectiveness while significantly cutting costs.
Gabbard's reforms are designed to address what she describes as the "bloating" of the agency since its inception following the events of 9/11. These changes are estimated to save about $700 million annually, a substantial decrease in government expenditure.
Redefining national security with rigorous reforms
The restructuring will see the consolidation of operations, including the closure of ODNI's Reston Campus and the merging of various intelligence entities. These actions are intended to eliminate redundancy, focusing the ODNI on core security missions and more streamlined operations.
Historically, the ODNI has struggled with its original mandate to provide clear, concise intelligence unmarred by political bias. An ODNI spokesperson highlighted the agency’s failure over the last two decades to effectively fulfill this role, necessitating these new measures.
Part of these sweeping changes includes a critical rebalancing of the workforce, involving both civilian and contracted employees. This optimization aims at enhancing analytical capabilities and improving overall operational efficiency within the intelligence community.
Targeted adjustments to enhance intelligence provision
According to Gabbard, the restructuring, known as 'ODNI 2.0,' is spearheaded under President Donald Trump's leadership, signaling a new era that refocuses on the core mission of national security, guided by the principles of the U.S. Constitution. This approach promises a more disciplined, merit-based hiring process, cutting down on non-essential and non-merit-based recruitment.
"Over the last 20 years, ODNI has become bloated and inefficient," Gabbard stated, criticizing the previous mismanagement that led to unauthorized intelligence leaks and a politicized manipulation of intelligence. Her plan is to revamp these aspects fundamentally.
Another significant area of reform under Gabbard’s leadership is the National Counterterrorism Center, which will enhance communication with various levels of law enforcement. These improvements aim to bolster border security and strengthen community safety across the nation.
Concrete steps toward securing trust and efficiency
Particular focus is also being placed on the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, where Gabbard is pushing for better oversight and more aggressive investigation into intelligence leaks. These actions are intended to safeguard sensitive information and improve national security protocols.
Gabbard emphasized the importance of ending the "weaponization of intelligence" and holding accountable those who misuse power. She advocates for an intelligence community that prioritizes truth and transparency, serving the American people’s interests without bias.
"ODNI and the IC must make serious changes to fulfill its responsibility to the American people and the U.S. Constitution by focusing on our core mission: find the truth and provide objective, unbiased, timely intelligence to the President and policymakers," Gabbard explained. Thus, she views these reforms as essential steps towards rebuilding trust with the American public, a trust she notes has "long been eroded."
A new era for the U.S. intelligence community
Under the proposed changes, the ODNI will undergo not just a reduction in workforce but also an ideological shift towards a more streamlined, efficient, and accountable operation. These reforms are set to redefine how intelligence operates at the highest levels of the U.S. government.
With substantial fiscal savings and a clear mandate to reduce inefficiencies, Gabbard’s ODNI 2.0 could mark the beginning of a new phase in U.S. intelligence operations, one hopefully characterized by enhanced security, improved efficiency, and restored public faith in the intelligence community.
As these reforms unfold, the impact on national security and the efficient operation of the U.S. intelligence apparatus will be closely monitored both by policymakers and the public. Tulsi Gabbard’s decisive actions may very well shape the future of American intelligence services.

A new report in Revolver.News warns that now the "jig is up," and there's coming a crackdown on a system rigged to give foreigners Americans' jobs.
The system is the H-1B visa system that purportedly is to allow foreigners with technical expertise to come to America for jobs when there aren't enough qualified Americans for the work.
The report cited a new looming crackdown by the Trump administration:
For years now, corporate elites and their buddies in The Swamp have locked Americans out of good jobs by rigging the hiring system so cheap foreign labor can help line their pockets. They've built an underground pipeline that pretends to "recruit" US workers while actually funneling the positions to cheap H-1B workers. The whole scheme runs on secrecy, red tape, and the government's flat-out refusal to enforce the law. But now, The jig is up. Americans have had enough, and they're fighting back. Thousands of American workers are now flooding these rigged job postings and exposing the bald-faced lie that there are "no qualified US workers." US workers are jamming up the PERM process, exposing the big con and forcing the truth about the rigged system out into the open. This is what it looks like when ordinary American workers finally fight back.
It is economist Peter St. Onge who is quoted describing how a program "sold to Americans as this 'high-skilled program' is now a marathon race-to-the-bottom that's costing us our jobs, our innovation, and our competitive edge."
Trump, however, is adopting an agenda to end the H1-B program as it exists, the report said.
"They're ripping out the coding sweatshops by the roots and taking the program back to what it was supposed to be – bringing in true experts when needed, not churning out boatloads of cheap labor to make corporations richer and Americans poorer," Revolver.News said.
Testimony about the corruption of the system already has made its presence known online:
One insider reported, "There are many of us who have worked for H1B dependent companies and managed B1B2/ L1/ H1Bs. Myself, I have managed over 3000. As outlined in my congressional testimony I stated this is nothing but cheap labor. Out of 50 people (NO AMERICANS but me!) That I had in an average implementation, there was one competent H1B. The remaining had to work 10 hours on the client site and then 8 hours at night with co workers in India to get their work completed. They lived 8 to 10 in a 2 bedroom apartment. This was nothing but taking jobs from Americans and on the job training."
According to Newsweek, changes are coming through a proposed Department of Homeland Security rule that would alter the visa effort.
It already has cleared the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
"Federal regulators cleared a proposed rule that would apply a 'weighted selection process' by replacing the current random lottery with a new system that gives priority in the selection process to registrants who meet or exceed certain criteria, such as wage or education level," the report said.
It explained, "The H-1B program supplies tens of thousands of specialty-occupation workers to U.S. employers each year and is heavily used by the technology sector. Any shift from a random lottery to a weighted, wage- or skill-based system could change hiring incentives for employers, affecting which foreign professionals obtain U.S. work authorization."
In fact, the report suggested the changes could "incentivize employers to offer higher wages to improve odds in a weighted system or change recruitment strategies."
The report said the next step in the process is publication of a proposed rule in the Federal Register and a public comment period.
Trump's first administration had proposed a similar plan, when he sought to "rank and select petitions by wage tiers (OES wage levels IV down to I)." He argued it would focus on higher-paid, highly skilled hires.
Joe Biden killed the plan, however.
Newsweek said, "The Institute for Progress, a nonpartisan think tank examining innovation policy, earlier this year suggested eliminating the H-1B lottery. It argued that the economic value of the visa program could be increased by 88 percent if applicants were evaluated based on seniority or salary. The H-1B visa has come under increasing scrutiny since Trump assumed office in January, as the president's supporters have called into question the number of visas handed out to foreign nationals at what they claim is the expense of American workers."
For instance, Microsoft repeatedly has demanded to hire employees under the program. It applied for 9,491 visas during the last fiscal year, at a time when it was laying off 16,000 Americans.

Euthanasia, the deliberate medical industry killing of victims, has become more and more common around the world in recent years. In Canada, it's routinely offered, instead of medical treatment, to people with nothing more than depression. In the United States, more and more state legislatures are adopting the "assisted suicide" schemes that kill residents.
But it is one scheme, in France, that has actually alarmed even the progressives at the United Nations.
There, the U.N. Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has told the French government to respond to serious concerns about its "radical" plan authorizing and promoting euthanasia and assisted suicide.
According to a report from the American Center for Law and Justice, whose affiliate, the European Centre for Law and Justice alerted the U.N. about problems, said the bill "seems to target persons with disabilities, and coerces religious clinics and retirement homes to comply or face punishment."
The French plan already has been endorsed by Emmanuel Macron and been adopted in the National Assembly. He awaits confirmation in the French Senate.
"First, as a matter of principle, it violates the prohibition on killing and describes euthanasia and assisted suicide as forms of so-called 'medical care,' deceptively framed as merely offering 'aid in dying.' Even more alarming, it uses a subjective criteria of suffering, including individuals with mental illness and disabilities," the ACLJ warned.
"The proposed euthanasia procedure could occur in a shockingly quick turnaround – carried out within a week – based solely on the decision of a single physician without any judicial oversight. Families would not be allowed to oppose the killing of their loved one, and compliance with the policy would only be reviewed a posteriori, or after the patient's death," the pro-life organization said.
"Extremely disturbing is that medical and social institutions — including religious clinics and retirement homes — would be forced to permit euthanasia on their premises, while pharmacists would be legally required to supply the lethal drugs used. The bill even creates a new crime of obstruction, punishable with up to two years in prison and fines of €30,000, effectively criminalizing any attempt to prevent or question an assisted suicide."
The ECLJ now is challenging the plan under international law, specifically the U.N. Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
That 2006 treaty sets out the rights of the disabled, and countries are legal bound to follow, if they've adopted it.
The ECLJ has informed the U.N. of the human rights violations embedded in France's agenda, and as a result, the U.N. told France of the "credible information indicating that if the above-mentioned piece of legislation is approved, it would result in an infringement of the duty of the state party to respect, protect and guarantee the right to life of persons with disabilities."
Among the concerns is the U.N.'s perception that "proposed eligibility criteria . . . appear to be based in ableist perceptions of the quality and value of the life of persons with disabilities.":
The ACLJ explained, "In fact, under the proposed law, a disability alone could be sufficient grounds for euthanasia or assisted suicide, if the person suffers physically or psychologically. This refers to what the U.N. CRPD calls 'ableist.' It also raised concerns about the lack of 'alternatives to assisted dying,' the creation of a new felony of obstructing assisted suicide, and the very short mandatory cooling-off period of only two days before euthanasia or assisted suicide can be performed.":
France has been trying to delay a response, which now isn't expected until the end of the month.
"It is extremely unusual for a U.N. Committee to intervene during a national legislative process, but in this case, it is fully justified given the dangerous nature of the bill. We must never forget that the U.N. was founded in response to the horrific crimes of Nazi Germany, including the state-sanctioned euthanasia of the innocent," the ACLJ warned.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states euthanasia is always a crime and can never be justified.

A report at CrimeGrade.org notes that Washington, D.C., gets a "violent crime grade" of "F."
And it's "property crime grade is "F."
And its "other crime grade" is "F."
Crime in the district stings residents for just under $900 million – a year. This year, it's costing each and every household $2,620, all of which provides grounds for President Donald Trump's extraordinary efforts to dispatch federal troops to start enforcing the laws, and arresting criminals.
The report notes, "The Cost of Crime per resident in District of Columbia is $1,264 per year, which is $800 more than the national average." For nearby New Jersey, for example, the costs of crime is only $240 per person.
But that is changing, according to the White House, which posted a link to a Fox report that confirmed, "National Guard's presence slashes D.C. crime rate, with seven days homicide-free."
"The crime is minimal here. There's not a lot of crime here," said one resident in the report.
"For the first time in a long time, D.C. has gone seven days without a homicide. Carjackings have decreased by 83%, robberies by 46%, car thefts by 21%, and overall violent crime is down 22%.," the Fox report confirmed.
"When you have these numbers going down it means this is a success and people feel safer," said Sgt. Betsy Smith of the National Police Association.
The White House noted, "In just one week, 550 arrests have been made for crimes such as assault on a police officer, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, involuntary manslaughter, child abuse, driving under the influence, and more. Authorities have also removed dozens of criminal illegal immigrants from the streets, including one MS-13 gang member and another charged with sex crimes against a child."
Further, "Dozens of homeless encampments have been cleared and graffiti is being cleaned up as the Trump Administration works to restore glory and prestige to our nation's capital," the White House said.
Thursday evening, Trump addressed law enforcement and others outside the U.S. Park Police headquarters in Washington, mentioning the positive trend in the nation's capital.
President Donald Trump's Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have increased migrant arrests in Georgia by 367% between January 10 and July 31, Breitbart reported. This comes a little more than a year after 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley was murdered by an illegal immigrant in Athens, Georgia.
The Peach State has seen an explosion in the number of illegal aliens flooding into it from all over the world. More than three-quarters of a million migrants were reportedly living in Georgia as of last year, but the problem came to a head after Riley's brutal murder made national news.
Now the nation is turning its attention to Georgia as the Department of Homeland Security touted ICE arrests that have soared with Trump's illegal immigration crackdown, including some of the most dangerous criminals. "Under President Trump and @Sec_Noem, @ICEgov has arrested 4,500 illegal aliens in Georgia—a 367% increase compared to the Biden administration," a post to X, formerly Twitter, said Wednesday.
The Offenders
The DHS under Secretary Kristi Noem shared mug shots and information on the crimes committed by some of these offenders picked up in the ICE raids. They included several criminals who committed sex crimes against children, including Mexican national Juan Carlos Mendoza-Gonzalez, a convicted child molester and statutory rapist.
They also picked up Honduran Luis Alfredo Betancourth-Euceda, who was convicted of two counts of sexual battery against a child under 16, and Venezuelan national Robert Edward Matos-Madueno, who has been accused of sexual battery against a child under 16, sexual molestation, and false imprisonment. ICE arrested Eduardo Garcia-Gonzalez of Mexico, who is accused of drug crimes, child molestation, and two counts of sexual battery against a child under 16.
Matilde Romero Sanchez of Mexico, who was arrested for child molestation and incest, and Fernando Hernandez-Martine of Mexico, who was convicted of two counts of child molestation, were also rounded up by ICE. Others faced drug charges, like Osvaldo Rodriguez-Padilla of Mexico, and drug and weapons charges, like Flavio Delabra Rebollar of Mexico.
Immigration enforcement also apprehended Jacob Aguillon-Martinez of Mexico, who was arrested after a vehicle hit-and-run and charged with homicide-negligent manslaughter. These convicts and alleged criminals are not the hardworking immigrants Democrats claim their lax polices are meant to give a helping hand to.
Instead, these are people accused or convicted of some of the worst crimes who make Georgia's cities and neighborhoods unsafe for Americans. While this widespread roundup is an excellent move from the Trump administration to fix a problem left by his predecessor, then-President Joe Biden, it comes too late for Laken Riley.
Vicious Crime
According to the New York Post, 26-year-old illegal immigrant Jose Ibarra, who had ties to the brutal Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang, attacked Riley while she was out for her morning run on the campus of the University of Georgia on Feb. 22, 2024. Ibarra attempted to sexually assault Riley, but the young woman fought back for an agonizing 20 minutes. It ended when Ibarra smashed Riley's head into the ground and smothered her.
Riley placed a call to 911, but she passed away before police found her bloodied body. Department of Homeland Security’s Tricia McLaughlin blamed Biden for his "open border policies" that allowed the criminal illegal alien into the country to commit crimes like Riley's murder, which she cited when announcing the recent arrests.
"President Trump promised to put Americans first and remove violent criminals from our country and that’s exactly what we are doing. Thanks to his and Secretary Noem’s leadership, ICE is once again empowered to remove the worst of the worst — including murderers, pedophiles, gang members, drug traffickers, and terrorists," McLaughlin said.
"In Georgia alone, arrests of illegal aliens have increased by 367 percent," she added. It stands to reason from the rap sheets of these illegal immigrants apprehended that Trump has prevented more murders, rapes, and child molestations by unleashing ICE to clean up the problem.
These crimes are disgraceful, and the people who commit them are only in the U.S. because Biden and the Democrats welcomed them with open arms. Trump is finally doing something about it, and what's happening in Georgia is a very good start.
In a decisive move, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard revoked security clearances from 37 intelligence officials, acting on orders from President Donald Trump, Newsmax reported.
This significant measure, aimed at enforcing accountability within the intelligence community, directly addresses alleged breaches of security protocols and mishandling of intelligence.
The announcement came on Tuesday, marking a notable shift under Gabbard's recent appointment as Director of National Intelligence. Earlier this year, she emphasized her focus on reinstating trust and integrity within the federal intelligence sectors.
DNI Gabbard Holds Officials Accountable for Misconduct
The removal of these clearances follows allegations that the concerned officials had manipulated intelligence reports, leaked sensitive information, and generally violated essential tradecraft standards. President Trump's directive aimed to tighten operational security and restore integrity within the intelligence operations.
Gabbard's stern measures reflect a broader concern about the impartiality and professionalism within the intelligence community. Her actions underscore a firm stance against the politicization of intelligence.
As per the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the specifics regarding the identity and roles of the individuals affected have not been disclosed. This withholding of details maintains a level of operational secrecy amid the unraveling controversy.
The Context of Politicization in Intelligence Affairs
This event unfolds against a backdrop of long-standing debates over the role of intelligence in political matters, particularly highlighted during the 2016 presidential election investigations. Accusations had previously swirled around the misuse of intelligence in the context of alleged collusion between Russia and Trump's campaign team.
Both the Justice Department’s inspector general and various special counsel investigations have pointed out errors and misconduct in intelligence handling related to these politically charged allegations. This context has intensified the scrutiny and accountability measures enforced under the current administration.
Moreover, it's currently unclear whether any of the officials whose clearances were revoked are still active within the government. This uncertainty adds a layer of complexity to the implications of these revocations for ongoing intelligence operations.
Emphasizing the Constitution Over Personal Interest
Gabbard emphasized the gravity of the responsibility entrusted to those with security clearances. "Being entrusted with a security clearance is a privilege, not a right," she stated, highlighting the importance of adhering to constitutional values over personal interests.
She further elaborated, "Those in the Intelligence Community who betray their oath to the Constitution and put their own interests ahead of the interests of the American people have broken the sacred trust they promised to uphold. In doing so, they undermine our national security, the safety and security of the American people, and the foundational principles of our democratic republic."
This sweeping action by Gabbard sends a clear message: the intelligence community must remain vigilant and unswervingly committed to the values and principles of the U.S. Constitution. It reflects her commitment to "ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of the American people."
Implications for National Security and Intelligence Future
The White House has been tight-lipped beyond the directive underlining these drastic actions, signifying a possible recalibration of policy regarding how intelligence is managed and utilized at the national level.
As this story develops, the intelligence community and public alike are keenly observing the outcomes of these dismissals, pondering the future landscape of national security administration.
This first significant act of revocation under Director Gabbard's tenure may set a precedent for how deviations from established standards and protocols are treated moving forward in the sphere of national intelligence and security.

There have been a multitude of indicators that suggest Gavin Newsom, California's extremist Democrat governor, is planning to claim that he is "the one" who should represent America's failing Democrat party in the next presidential election.
Not the least of that agenda has been his creation of an online persona that mimics President Donald Trump, as he uses all-caps statements and such.
But now one major American corporate presence, Bed, Bath and Beyond, has delivered its verdict already on his failed state leadership.
The company has announced it no longer with "open or operate" retail outlets in Newsom's state.
In a statement from Marcus Lemonis, executive chairman of the company, he said bluntly, "We will not open or operate retail stores in California."
He continues, "This decision isn't about politics – it's about reality. California has created one of the most overregulated, expensive, and risky environments for businesses in America. It's a system that makes it harder to employ people, harder to keep doors open, and harder to deliver value to customers."
More:
"The result? Higher taxes, higher fees, higher wages that many businesses simply cannot sustain, and endless regulations that strangle growth. Even when the state announces a budget surplus, it's built on the backs of ordinary citizens who are paying too much and businesses who are squeezed until they break.
"At Bed Bath & Beyond, our responsibility is to our customers and our shareholders. We will not participate in a system that undermines both. Instead, we are investiing in a California strategy that works: 24-48 hour delivery, and in many cases, same-day service. Californians will continue to get the products they love through BedBachandBeyond.com – but without the inflated costs created by an unsustainable model.
"We're taking a stand because it's time for common sense. Businesses deserve the change to succeed. Employees deserve jobs that last. And customers deserve fair prices. California's system delivers the opposite. That's why Bed Bach & Beyond will serve California customers directly through BedBathandBeyond.com, on our terms, and with their best interests at heart."
A report at RedState called the announcement a "rare move for a major corporation."
"By contrast, Bed, Bath, and Beyond will move ahead with reopening brick-and-mortar stores in nearly every other state in the country," the report noted.
"While Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and his cronies love to brag about California's total GDP, something largely driven by its pre-existing population size, that does not testify to economic health. China has a huge GDP, but would anyone argue it's a great place to operate a business or that their system is preferable to America's markets? Right now, California is slipping further and further into debt while more and more corporations flee to find relief from the destructive policies put in place by decades of Democrat governance," RedState explained.
"All of this was preventable. California is a textbook example of what happens when you give left-wingers total control and let their hubris run wild. Yes, long-standing industries and foundational successes that started long before the Newsom era continue to keep the state afloat, but that won't continue forever. You can, in fact, push things too far, and we've seen examples of that over recent years. For example, In-N-Out Burger, a California staple, is choosing to do its latest expansion in the Republican South, including moving its headquarters. Meanwhile, Newsom is having to get on bended knee and beg oil companies not to abandon his state, and there are a lot more companies in other sectors looking to get out as well, from healthcare to technology."

Joe Scarborough, the left-leaning host of "Morning Joe," is now blasting California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, for "quite embarrassing" behavior in recent attempts to act like President Donald Trump.
"The Democrats are trying to find their footing and it's quite embarrassing, actually," Scarborough said Wednesday. "Gavin Newsom, I mean if you've seen what he's doing online."
"Don't try to turn the ship 180 degrees … They don't know what to do!"
"I have a good idea. Instead of trying to school Donald Trump, talk into the camera about affordability," Scarborough continued. "Talk about what you're going to do for housing."
"Donald Trump's not on the ballot in '26, he's not on the ballot in '28," he concluded. "You're not running against Donald Trump!"
The Hill reported Wednesday: "California Gov. Gavin Newsom has figured out the best way to get under President Trump's skin. Act like him.
"In an effort to egg Trump on – and rally his own troops in the Democratic Party – Newsom has taken a page from Trump's playbook, mirroring everything from the president's rants to his social media habits.
"In recent days, the California governor has touted his own 'beautiful' midterm redistricting proposal and his 'beautiful' rally to boot – needling Trump's braggadocious ways.
"Newsom has started to write his social media posts in ALL CAPS, just like the president."
"Wake the f*** up to what's going on in this country," Newsom said to author Brian Tyler Cohen on Sunday. "We're going to put everything on the damn line."
"And that's why I'm proud of the folks from Texas. And that's why I'm proud of folks showing up at the No Kings rally. People haven't given up yet. I'm telling you, we can win. We're going to do this. We can win this November. We can win next November, and then we can get this country back on track."
"Democrats are over being the nice guy party," Democrat strategist Jamal Simmons, who served as Kamala Harris' communications director in the vice president's office told the Hill. "Standing up for Dem values doesn't mean you have to play by the old rules and Newsom in particular is showing he'll go as low as he needs to to take on Trump."
Former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, who served under President George W. Bush, advised Newsom on Monday: "You have to stop it with the Twitter thing."
"If I were his wife, I would say: You are making a fool of yourself! Stop it! Do not let your staff tweet, and if you're doing it yourself, put the phone away and start over. He's got a big job as governor of California, but if he wants an even bigger job, he has to be a little bit more serious."
Others comments online include:
"Newsom trying to cosplay as a conservative is peak cringe. Sorry, no one's buying it. Just own your record instead of pretending."
"Newsom's strategy may alienate his base and highlights the risks of political theatrics.
"If Morning Joe thinks you are embarrassing then you know things are bad."
"I've been wondering what the party is going to do without their 'orange man bad' policy. It's the only policy they have."

President's Donald Trump's famed border wall, installed and effective at deterring illegal aliens from crossing into the U.S., is getting an enhancement: Black paint.
Which is supposed to help the wall heat up in the southern sun, and thereby make it harder to climb.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made the announcement:
And showed what is happening:
At a news conference in Santa Teresa, N.M., she said, "Now, if you look at the structure that's behind me, it's tall, which makes it very, very difficult to climb, almost impossible. It also goes deep into the ground, which would make it very difficult, if not impossible, to dig under. And today, we are also going to be painting it black. That is specifically at the request of the president, who understands that in the hot temperatures down here, when something is painted black, it gets even warmer, and it will make it even harder for people to climb."
Democrats and other liberals were losing their cool over the plan:
Other critics warned it would not be as hot at night, when the sun isn't shining. And they also asked if there are no gloves in Mexico. And at the other end of the spectrum was the suggestion from many commenters simply to electrify the wall. Or install razor wire.
Actually, the flood of millions of illegal aliens drawn to the United States under Joe Biden's open borders policies has been cut to only a trickle under Trump's combined efforts to secure the border in recent months.
Department of Homeland Security officials said Monday that California Gov. Gavin Newsom is to blame after an illegal immigrant allegedly caused a crash in his semi-truck on a Florida highway that killed three Americans, Breitbart reported. Because of Newsom's sanctuary state policies, illegal immigrant Harjinder Singh was able to obtain a commercial driver's license and operate the truck that allegedly caused the fatal accident.
Singh, an Indian national, has been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide for the crash that happened on a St. Lucie County, Florida, highway earlier this year after he made an illegal U-turn that caused a passenger vehicle to plow into his semi-trailer. Footage from the accident shared to X, formerly Twitter, appears to show Singh indifferent to the twisted wreckage he's accused of causing.
"This driver facing justice is not enough. All the politicians who allowed him to get a license and stay here must be charged as accessories to this crime," the End Wokeness account captioned the footage.
Newsom's role
Singh should not have been in the U.S. in the first place, and he definitely shouldn't have had the opportunity to get a Commercial Driver’s License. This was only possible due to Newsom's 2022 expansion of a 2013 law that has helped more than a million illegal immigrants obtain driver's licenses in the state in the last decade.
"Three innocent people were killed in Florida because Gavin Newsom’s California Department of Motor Vehicles issued an illegal alien a Commercial Driver’s License — this state of governance is asinine. How many more innocent people must die before Gavin Newsom stops playing games with the safety of the American public?" DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said.
"We pray for the victims and their families. Secretary Noem and DHS are working around the clock to protect the public and get these criminal illegal aliens out of America," McLaughlin added. Newsom's office tried to claim that it was the Trump administration's fault because Singh was issued a work permit when he entered the U.S. in 2018 during the president's first term.
McLaughlin vehemently disagreed with that assertion. "Harjinder Singh is in the United States illegally, and his work authorization was rejected under the Trump Administration on September 14, 2020," McLaughlin responded to Newsom's post on X.
"It was later approved under the Biden Administration June 9, 2021. The state of California issues Commercial Driver’s Licenses. There is no national [commercial driver’s license]," McLaughlin added. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has Singh in custody while the case is adjudicated.
It Gets Worse
While Newsom's office tries to downplay the role the governor's laws played in the situation, the truth about Singh is even worse than initially reported. According to the New York Post, Singh had obtained a commercial license from California and Washington state despite not being able to understand English.
The Department of Transportation recently revealed that Singh couldn't pass a basic fluency test after the April 12 crash, with him correctly answering only two of 12 questions the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration gave him. Moreover, the driver could only correctly identify one out of four highway signs shown to him in the test.
This means Singh was in violation of the law that mandates drivers with a CDL be "sufficiently" fluent in English to understand road signs, and yet he somehow obtained the license in both states. "This crash was a preventable tragedy directly caused by reckless decisions and compounded by despicable failures," said Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy in a statement about the incident.
Singh's attempted U-turn that caused the crash happened in a cut-through designated with a sign as an "Official Use Only" passage for emergency vehicles and was thus illegal. "Non-enforcement and radical immigration policies have turned the trucking industry into a lawless frontier, resulting in unqualified foreign drivers improperly acquiring licenses to operate 40-ton vehicles," Duffy added.
Newsom absolutely created this dangerous situation with his policies, but there were failures all along the way that made this kind of tragedy all but inevitable. Illegal immigrants should not be issued driver's licenses to operate massive vehicles that have the power to crush a passenger car, but it's clear Democrats like Newsom have as little regard for innocent life as Singh apparently does.
