Former San Diego Sector Border Patrol Chief Aaron Heitke recently testified before Congress, claiming that the Biden administration prevented him from disclosing critical information about migrants with potential ties to terrorism. Heitke’s testimony took place during a House Homeland Security Committee hearing, which brought to light the increasing divide between Republicans and Democrats on how to handle the border crisis.
The former border chief alleged that he was barred from releasing details regarding a sharp increase in migrants known as Significant Interest Aliens (SIAs), individuals linked to terrorism.
Heitke revealed that under the Biden administration, San Diego saw a dramatic rise in the number of SIAs apprehended at the border. He stated that, prior to this administration, the San Diego sector typically encountered between 10 to 15 SIAs per year. In 2022, this number skyrocketed to over 100, and the upward trend continued in 2023, with even more apprehensions than the previous year.
Heitke further explained that these numbers only reflect the migrants who were apprehended, leaving open the question of how many individuals with potential terror ties might have crossed the border undetected. His testimony expressed concern over how the situation was managed and how he was restricted from informing the public about these alarming trends.
"I was told I could not release any information on this increase in SIAs or mention any of the arrests," Heitke stated. He suggested that the administration was attempting to downplay the potential threats posed by these individuals.
The hearing, titled “A Country Without Borders: How Biden-Harris’ Open-Borders Policies Have Undermined Our Safety and Security,” focused heavily on the ongoing border crisis. Republicans, led by committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.), were vocal in blaming the Biden administration for the situation, pointing to the reversal of Trump-era policies as a catalyst for the spike in illegal crossings and security risks.
"As we continue to witness Biden and Harris’ resistance to doing anything meaningful about this disaster, we have to ask—why?" Chairman Green remarked. He went on to question the administration’s motives for allowing the crisis to persist, referencing daily releases of illegal aliens and costly flights transferring migrants from San Diego to Texas. According to Heitke, each of these flights costs approximately $150,000.
The hearing also touched on the impact the migrant influx had on drug interdiction efforts. Heitke mentioned that in order to redirect resources to the southern border, he was forced to close traffic checkpoints that played a key role in intercepting drug trafficking, particularly fentanyl. This diversion of resources, he suggested, further exacerbated the already overwhelming challenges faced by border officials.
While Republicans criticized the administration’s handling of the border, Democrats offered a different perspective.
Democrats pushed back against the criticisms, with ranking member Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) highlighting recent steps taken by the administration that he claimed have successfully curbed the flow of illegal border crossings. Thompson pointed to a 55% decrease in border encounters since a presidential proclamation issued on June 4, along with the lowest number of encounters since September 2020.
"While you probably won't hear it from those on the other side," Thompson said, "border encounters are at their lowest level in years."
The testimony underscored the stark divide between the two parties on how to address the nation’s border security issues. Republicans remain adamant that Biden’s rollback of strict immigration measures has led to chaos at the border, while Democrats argue that a lack of bipartisan support for funding and reform bills has hampered more comprehensive solutions.
The issue of Significant Interest Aliens is just one part of a broader debate over border security, a topic that has been increasingly politicized in recent years. The testimony from Heitke suggests that not only is the threat of terrorism tied to the border crisis growing, but that the public may not be receiving the full picture of the risks involved.
The debate over border security is unlikely to subside anytime soon, as both parties remain deeply entrenched in their respective positions. Whether future hearings or policy changes will lead to any meaningful progress remains to be seen, but for now, the testimony of Aaron Heitke has brought attention to a critical issue that many feel is being overlooked in the broader immigration debate.
Hillary Clinton shared an account of meeting Melania Trump with The View, comparing the Former First Lady to a child who fears being rejected at a birthday party.
Indeed, Clinton described the encounter in the same way a high school clique might talk about an outcast who unexpectedly shows up to a party.
Clinton made it sound like Melania's appearance at the funeral of Rosalynn Carter was an awkward surprise for Clinton and her circle of establishment approved first ladies.
"I saw Laura Bush - who is just absolutely delightful - talking with Melania Trump and none of us knew that she was going to be there," Clinton said. "And Michelle and Jill Biden and I were, like, wow, nobody told us."
Despite the note of contempt in her voice, Clinton said it was a "positive thing" for Melania to be there in the spirit of unity.
"But immediately, you know, all of our training, our good manners, everybody immediately went up and Michelle gave her one of her hugs and even Jill said how glad she was to see her and I said hello to her, and I write about how I thought it was a very positive thing for her to show up," Clinton said.
Clinton's liberal co-hosts chirped in patronizing agreement that Melania showed courage by attending the event.
"I think it was a little scary. I say she looks like the kid on the outside of the birthday party, like, am I going to be accepted? Do I belong here?" Clinton said.
It's no secret that Melania Trump has been treated with scorn by the political, media, and entertainment establishments since her husband's entry into politics.
The elusive former First Lady is releasing her first memoir, in which she pledges to correct "misrepresentations" that have spread about her over the years.
"As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts. I believe it is important to share my perspective: The truth," she said in a recent trailer.
Meanwhile, Clinton - who has never been able to accept losing the 2016 presidential election to Melania's husband Donald Trump - is busy plugging her fourth memoir, Something Lost, Something Gained, in which she shares her equivocal feelings about Melania.
“On a gut level, I have never believed that a wife bears responsibility for the actions of her husband. But did she aid and abet her husband’s worst instincts?” Clinton wrote.

There are those political bureaucrats in high positions in international organizations who are trying to shift the rights of people so that they can be controlled.
Free speech, they think, is dangerous. Making health decisions? That should be left to "experts." And more.
It was obvious during the COVID pandemic, that the viral catastrophe that came out of China and killed millions around the globe.
There often was criticism, from leftist ideologists, that governments did not have more control over people, other than the lockdowns, the mask mandates, the mandatory shots, and such that did happen.
Even then, there was discussion among Marxists that international groups, the World Health Organization and the United Nations, needed more authority over people.
Now there's a plan that is being assembled that apparently would do just that. And Republicans are at war with it:
It is the Summit of the Future, being promoted by the U.N., as which the schemes are expected to be pushed forward.
A report from the Daily Signal explains that GOP members held a news conference to warn about the agenda.
Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., accused the Biden-Harris regime now in power in Washington of wanting to subordinate Americans to the U.N. and the World Health Organization, so that those organizations, when they would choose, could dictate to Americans what they could do.
Good and Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., led a press conference with other GOP members to express their opposition to what effectively would amount to a global governance.
"They seek to facilitate the evolution of the U.N. from an international cooperative body to an international governing body," Good charged.
Good pointed out that in November, voters will decide what kind of country the U.S. will be, since President Donald Trump had withdrawn the U.S. from the World Health Organization, but the Biden-Harris regime immediately subjected Americans to the whims of that organization again.
Good said now the U.N. and a long list of bureaucrats want to be "transforming" the bureaucracy into "global governance."
Biden and Harris, of course, are supporting "the surrender" of the U.S. to the ideology, he charged.
"They want America to be subordinated to and governed by the U.N.," he said.
The report also explained Good is shocked by the legacy news media's decision to ignore the dispute.
"This is the most important issue [but it's] getting the least amount of attention relative to its importance and its impact on our country and on the American people," he said.
Legacy media, of course, are occupied with claims such as that report on "Biden beats Trump at Stock Market," when Trump's economy was blasted at its conclusion by the literal global shutdown of business because of COVID, and Biden's was benefited by the world economy's eventual recovery from that.
Legacy media outlets also are tied up reporting on the newest Democrat-weighted polling showing Kamala Harris ahead in the presidential race.
Or the criminal court obstacles of some entertainer now named "Diddy."
And those disputes of national significance like, "Are Don Jr. and Guilfoyle done?"
The U.N.'s agenda for the coming few days includes three international deals the leftist officials want to finalize: "The Pact for the Future," the "Declaration Future Generations" and the "Global Digital Compact."
The Daily Signal report notes that U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres already has tried to convince member nations, using COVID-19 as justification, that his power, and that of the U.N., should be raised to sky-high levels so that they could do as they please in another world crisis.
"The Pact for the Future includes an 'emergency platform' that would give Guterres the power as U.N. chief to address what the agreement calls 'global shocks,'" the report said.
Those "shocks" could come from "climatic or environmental events," more pandemics, "biological" events and anything else that they say disrupts "global flows of goods, people, or finance."
Yes, there's also the recognition of a "major event in outer space."
"That's enough examples and enough reasons for them to get involved pretty much whenever and wherever they want to," Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., charged. "I hope that this body and the Senate continues to reject, push back, and stop this agreement and this push by this administration to sell our sovereignty to globalists."
The U.N. naively insists on guaranteeing the elimination of "intergenerational transmission of poverty and hunger, inequality and injustice."
Technology would come under U.N. control through the digital compact.
It provides, for example, U.N. authority to use artificial intelligence to stop "misinformation and disinformation," which as leftists define it includes facts or opinions they don't like.
The nations of WHO, two decades ago, adopted the idea of international health regulations. Then under the Biden-Harris regime after COVID, their bureaucrats proposed a plan to give Ghebreyesus authority to declare a public health alert anywhere.
The idea that the Biden-Harris regime could arbitrarily impose such a bureaucracy on Americans prompted the House already to approve a plan requiring Senate approval of any such "treaty." But it has yet to be adopted by the Senate.
House Republicans shut down Speaker Mike Johnson's attempt to pass the SAVE Act with a continuing resolution meant to prevent a government shutdown, Breitbart reported. The California Republican's effort failed 202-220 after 14 Republicans voted against it and two voted present.
Congress is fighting to fund the government to avoid an impending shutdown as the presidential election looms. In the midst of this fight, Johnson attached the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility Act, which requires proof of citizenship to register to vote, to the continuing resolution bill.
Some Republicans found that problematic and voted down the legislation on Wednesday. One of the main objections was that the spending bill had no significant cuts but impacted defense spending, while others worried it would backfire.
Others felt that attaching it to a voter security measure was only a cheap enticement. Only three Democrats were willing to pass the bill, but it didn't make a dent, with so many Republicans objecting.
Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was one of the most outspoken opponents of the attempt. In a post to X, formerly Twitter, Greene called it a "classic bait and switch" on Johnson's part.
"This is classic bait and switch that will enrage the base, only one month before the election, when they find out they have been tricked and let down again. The only way to make the SAVE Act a law would be to refuse to pass a CR until the Senate agrees to pass the SAVE Act and Biden agrees to sign it into law," Green predicted.
She worried that the shutdown would happen anyway, and President Joe Biden and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) would use it against the GOP. "This would force a Gov shutdown on Oct 1 because Biden and Schumer both said they will shutdown the government as they are that adamant against the SAVE Act," Greene wrote.
"Johnson will NOT commit to standing up against the Democrats in a shutdown fight and will allow passage of a clean CR in order to fund the government because he believes a gov shutdown will be blamed on Republicans and will hurt their elections. Johnson is leading a fake fight that he has no intention of actually fighting," Greene charged.
This is classic bait and switch that will enrage the base, only one month before the election, when they find out they have been tricked and let down again.
The only way to make the SAVE Act a law would be to refuse to pass a CR until the Senate agrees to pass the SAVE Act and… https://t.co/XAGq59ycvT
— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@RepMTG) September 17, 2024
According to Fox News, lawmakers supporting the legislation applauded Johnson's attempt to get the government funded through March with this move. By then, the new administration would have to take up the budget issue in earnest.
Johnson wanted the government funding issue off the table but also wanted the SAVE Act passed. Texas GOP Rep. Chip Roy has championed the bill and called out fellow Republicans for backing away.
"I would dare any one of my colleagues who are against this plan, come forward with a better plan that we will actually be able to move, pass, and unite the Republican Party to go beat Democrats. Don’t predict failure and then be the reason why we fail – and that’s what some of my friends are doing, unfortunately," Roy said.
Proponents also believe the SAVE Act presents Republicans with a strong starting point for negotiations as the bill moves into the Senate, which has a Democrat majority. Meanwhile, both parties agree that something must be done to prevent the Oct. 1 government shutdown.
The fight over a government shutdown is a familiar one. The SAVE Act may have its merits, but these political games months before a presidential election are too risky, no matter the potential reward.
Donald Trump told supporters at a packed MAGA rally in Long Island, New York that he hopes his wife Melania had "good things" to say about him in her upcoming memoir.
“Go out and get her book,” Trump said. "She just wrote a book. I hope she said good things about me.”
Melania's self-titled memoir promises to tell "the truth" about her and correct the "misrepresentations" peddled by the media over the years.
Her husband urged an enthusiastic crowd Wednesday night to buy the book on the condition that she said "good things" about him.
“Go out and buy it, it’s great. And if she says bad things about me I’ll call you all up and I’ll say don’t buy it, get rid of it,” he quipped.
Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York was filled with thousands of supporters who waited hours to hear President Trump speak.
The MAGA faithful were rewarded with an energetic speech full of jokes, as well as serious reflections on the nation's decline and Trump's place in history after surviving two assassination attempts.
"These encounters with death have not broken my will, they have really given me a much bigger and stronger mission. They’ve only hardened my resolve to use my time on Earth to make America great again for all Americans, to put America first,” Trump said.
Trump's wife has been mostly absent from the campaign trail, but she has been more vocal recently ahead of the October release of her new book.
The enigmatic First Lady recently shared doubts about her husband's first assassination attempt in Penn sylvania, as members of both parties in Congress accuse Secret Service of hiding the truth.
Her husband's Long Island rally was his first since he was targeted in a second assassination attempt at his Florida golf course last weekend. President Trump lavished praise on the woman who followed the suspect, Ryan Routh, and photographed his license plate.
"This could only happen with a woman, because men aren't smart enough. I hate to tell you fellas," Trump said.
Meanwhile, President Trump made a bold promise to win reliably Democratic New York, where he built his real estate empire and lived for decades at Trump Tower before making the move to Mar-A-Lago.
The Queens, New York native painted a grim picture of his hometown under Democratic rule, pledging to clean up its crime-ridden subways and crack down on an influx of violent migrants who have entered the country under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
"What the hell do you have to lose?" he asked New Yorkers.
"Give me a shot, you will have a safe New York within three months… for every New Yorker being terrorized by this wave of migrant crime, Nov. 5 will be your liberation day," he said.

JERUSALEM – Iranian security officials recruited an Israeli civilian to carry out high-level assassinations of senior Israeli figures – up to and including the prime minister – according to a Police and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) statement.
It reveals a 73-year-old Jewish citizen, Moti Maman, who was arrested in August, was indicted in connection with the plot Thursday. The statement added the suspect was apparently smuggled into Iran on two separate occasions, and had also received some payments to carry out his supposed missions.
The Police and Shin Bet investigation revealed Maman, who hails from the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, lived for lengthy periods in Turkey, and has extensive connections with Turkish and Iranian nationals. As such, he was arrested on suspicion of committing security offenses related to contact with intelligence elements of the Iranian regime.
As part of these relationships, in April 2024, Maman agreed, after mediation from Turkish officials Andrey Farouk Aslan and Junaid Aslan, to meet with a rich businessman living in Iran named "Eddy," to promote business activity.
Maman met with two of Eddy's associates in the Turkish city of Samandag in April 2024, when he reportedly held a phone conversation with the mysterious Iranian contact. Eddy said he was not able to leave Iran.
The investigation also revealed that following this, in May 2024, Maman went to Turkey, where he met with Andrey, Junaid, and Eddy's two representatives. After it became clear Eddy could no longer leave Iran for Turkey, the Israeli citizen was smuggled by car through a land border crossing at the Turkish border, near the city of Van, located in eastern Turkey. There he met with Eddy and another man named Haja, who was presented as an operative on behalf of the Iranian security apparatus.
Maman and the others went to Eddy's house in Iran, where he was introduced as an Israeli citizen at a meeting. Eddy reportedly asked the Israeli to carry out various security tasks within Israel on the Iranian regime's behalf, including: transferring money or a gun at predetermined points, photographing various crowded places in Israel and sending them to the Iranian authorities, and to threaten other Israeli citizens employed in the country on behalf of the Iranian regime who did not carry out requested tasks. Maman said he would look into the matter.
The investigation also revealed that during August 2024, Maman entered Iran for the second time while being smuggled through the border crossing while hidden in the cab of a truck. Staying again at Eddy's house, he met other Iranian intelligence officials, who requested he carry out terrorist activities for Iran on Israeli soil, and in the process to promote assassination attacks against Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, or Defense Minister Yoav Galant, or the head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar
Iranian intelligence officials also asked to look into the possibility of assassinating other senior leaders, such as former prime minister Naftali Bennett – who has been outside of the official political ring since he stepped aside from the position and handed it over to Yair Lapid in 2022 – and other public figures. In their view, they saw it as revenge for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh on Iranian soil in July 2024, which the Iranian authorities attributed to the state of Israel, although Jerusalem never officially, publicly took responsibility for the action that so humiliated Tehran.
According to the investigation, the businessman demanded an advance payment of one million dollars before he was prepared to take any action, which the Iranian agents apparently rebuffed.
Following the initial encounter with Eddy, Maman held another meeting with the Iranian intelligence officials, in which they repeated their proposal to assassinate senior officials, explored the possibility he would deposit funds so others could locate Russian and American officials for the purpose of eliminating opponents of the Iranian regime in Europe and the United States. They also wished to create a Mossad double-agent.
A senior Shin Bet official explained further. "This is a very serious affair, which shows the great lengths to which Iranian intelligence agencies will go to recruit Israeli citizens to promote terrorist activities in Israel. The assessment of the security officials is that the Iranians will continue their efforts to recruit operatives in Israel for the purpose of gathering intelligence and carrying out terrorist missions in Israel, while also turning, among other things, to criminal elements to help carry out their missions.
"At a time when the state of Israel is at war on several fronts, an Israeli citizen goes to an enemy country on two different occasions, meets with Iranian intelligence agents and expresses a willingness to carry out serious terrorist acts on Israeli soil. His actions helped Iran and its intelligence agents in their campaign against Israel.
"The Shin Bet takes a very serious view of any contact by Israelis with Iranian elements, while the motive for the contact in the first place being a business pretext or a criminal platform, does not diminish the severity of the acts and the risk inherent in them, much less cooperation with these elements."
The timing of the information's release is also interesting. Surely the date of the indictment was set some time ago, although one can't help juxtapose the failure of this effort by Iranian security elements to penetrate Israel and carry out mass casualty terrorist attacks and/ or target top political and security individuals, against the dysfunction and chaos Israel has been able to sow with the exploding beepers and walkie-talkie operation in Lebanon and beyond. It does show the lengths to which Iran will try and go to destabilize its enemies.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who already has been mocked for his state's high taxes, extremism on social issues including abortion and transgenderism, attempts to interfere with other states and their rights, and more, this week reached a new level of chutzpah.
That, by the way, derives from a Hebrew word meaning "insolence," "cheek" or "audacity."
He's signed a law banning parody.
The report said video creator Christopher Kohls is charging Newsom with violations of the First and 14th Amendments with Newsom's "anti-deepfake measure" that was signed into law this week.
California's governor was offended by a parody released by "Mr. Reagan" recently:
In it "Kamala Harris" confirms she is the Democrat candidate for president because Joe Biden "exposed his senility at the debate."
She confesses she is the "ultimate diversity hire," as a woman and a "person of color."
The mockery continues.
The video uses AI-generated audio clips, and it was shared by Elon Musk, collecting more than 100 million views.
Newsom responded:
The lawsuit in federal court in California charges that Newsom's scheme is a flagrant use of "state power to force private social media companies to censor private citizens' speech by purging election-related AI-generated content."
Musk's comment? "You're not gonna believe this, but Gavin Newsom, just announced that he signed a LAW to make parody illegal, based on this video."
He concludes California needs "new leadership."
However, taking on Newsom directly was the Babylon Bee, which prominently announced it has "'obtained this exclusive, official, 100% real Gavin Newsom election ad."
The Gateway Pundit called it "the perfect response" to Newsom.
In it, "Newsom" states:
This is a message for the people of America, given in my authentically recorded non-AI voice. Thanks to my leadership over the last several years, California has become a world leader in extremist left-wing governance. My policies were so effective that almost 1 million people are now fleeing the state every year. We even ran out of U-Hauls.
During the COVID pandemic, I locked everyone in their homes and shut down businesses for months. Not the French Laundry, though. That's my favorite restaurant. Last year, I cleaned up the dangerous, messy streets of San Francisco. You know, because Chinese Communist President Xi was coming. And I really wanted to impress him. He's my boss, after all.
This year, I signed legislation that allows me to take custody of your kid if you refuse to give him artificial hormones and chop off his genitals. Because if you don't do that, you're a bigot. And bigots shouldn't be allowed to have kids. I've also led the way in green energy by banning all cars that don't run on electricity. Then I banned almost all the electricity. This is smart leadership.
On my watch, the cost of living and homelessness have skyrocketed. Schools are failing. Drug dealers and human traffickers are pouring across the border. And poop has covered the sidewalks of San Francisco. This is the positive, joyful vision we offer as Democrats.
That's why I'm enthusiastically endorsing Kamala Harris for president in 2024. She'll do to the country everything I did in California. Anyway, I'm California Governor Gavin Newsom, and I approve this 100% real message, which is a recording of my voice without the assistance of any AI whatsoever.
This isn't a deepfake. And you can rest assured that it isn't, because I just signed an unconstitutional law outlawing deepfakes. No one would dare violate it. Thank you, and science bless America.

The Rumble video platform has been handed a major victory in its war against leftist ideologues who run a web influence operation that purports to offer information about online advertising.
The company now will be allowed to seek discovery, or evidence in the case, while it remains pending in federal court.
A report at the Federalist notes the case eventually could expose how closely connected are Democrat operatives and efforts to censor conservative outlets.
The report explained the ruling was that a federal judge said Rumble could proceed with discovery against Nandini Jammi and Claire Atkin, who founded Check My Ads.
"The court's ruling also suggests the efforts by the Check My Ads co-founders to have Rumble's civil case tossed will fail, meaning the country may soon learn much more about how the censorship-industrial complex functions — including Democrats and Media Matters' alleged role," the report explained.
Rumble's complaint, filed in court in Florida, charges that Jammi and Atkins run Check My Ads, a tax-exempt group "purportedly serving as 'an independent watchdog reshaping the digital advertising industry.'"
Other defendants are thought to include Media Matters, David Brock's leftist group, and others.
The case was triggered by an October 24, 2023, article that alleged that Rumble "is heavily monetized by Google Ads."
It accused, "Rumble loves to boast about being free from Big Tech. In reality, the business appears to be heavily dependent on Google Ads, by far its largest advertising partner — and advertisers often have no idea their ads are appearing there. Rumble is part of Google Video Partners, which means Google dumps inventory there that many advertisers assume is going to YouTube. And it seems to know brands wouldn't appreciate appearing next to some of Rumble's content: it has taken steps to minimize the risk of advertisers waking up to screenshots of their ads next to Alex Jones' face."
Then Jammi and Atkins post social media statements claiming Rumble was beholden to Google ads, including one claim that Rumble was 90% funded by Google ads.
The agenda is accused of intending to pressure advertisers to stop allowing their ads on Rumble.
But the lawsuit charges the 90% was false, that it actually was getting "less than 1% of the company's total revenue" there.
Rumble charged the defendants made false claims to imply it is susceptible to a material financial risk, that they diminished Rumble's brand in the eyes of shareholders and more.
"The complaint highlights interactions between Rumble and the defendants which plaintiff alleges shows they knew the claims about dependency on Google were false. Rumble further alleges that Atkins and Jammi knew their claims were false because the duo were familiar with Media Matter's statement from 2022 that 'Google's ad network made up [only] 2% of total advertiser spending on Rumble.com in the last year,'" the report said.
Discovery now, the report said, "could well expose how tightly connected the Democrat Party is to efforts to censor conservative outlets.
The defendants wanted a judge to order discovery halted for now, but the court declined.

Hillary Clinton, the twice-failed Democrat presidential wannabe and longtime purveyor of political disinformation, has claimed she wants those who spread such disinformation jailed, and a commentary now has charged if that's the practice, then "You first."
WND reported that Clinton, in a stunning revelation about how she would like to exercise a dictatorial control over Americans and their ideas, has called for jail for those with ideas that differ from hers.
In an interview she was addressing her concerns about those who were "boosting Trump back in 2016." Those "Russians" should be charged, she claimed.
"But I also think there are Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda. Uh. And whether they should be civilly or even in some cases criminally charged is something that would be a better deterrence…."
Of course, back in 2016, it was her campaign that funded the creation of a long list of lies about then-candidate Donald Trump, called the Steele Dossier, which she and other Democrats then promoted to try to defeat the eventual GOP president.
One of the claims was that the Trump campaign was colluding with Russia against Clinton in the race, a claim that was debunked by a years-long special counsel investigation.
Now is it John Daniel Davidson, senior editor at the Federalist, who has a suggestion to crack down on disinformation.
Under the headline, "Clinton wants to jail Americans for 'misinformation.' Let's start with her," he writes, "Clinton said it's important to indict Russians who interfere in our elections but there are also Americans 'engaged in this kind of propaganda' and that if they were civilly or criminally charged it would be 'a better deterrent' because it's unlikely any Russians will ever stand trial in the United States."
He explained, "What she's describing is of course odious and totally incompatible with the First Amendment. Americans are free to spread as much Russian propaganda as they want, whether they believe any of it or not. We can shout all kinds of things from the street corner, hand out conspiracy theory pamphlets in the grocery store parking lot, and post the craziest stuff you've ever heard all day along on social media. If Hillary Clinton doesn't like it, she can go pound sand.
"More to the point though, 'misinformation' isn't actually a thing. Neither is disinformation or malinformation. These are Soviet terms that relate to psychological warfare. When Clinton and Maddow and other Democrats use these terms what they really mean is, 'facts I don't like and opinions I disagree with.'"
He suggested that if Americans are going to be charged for spreading Russia propaganda, "Clinton herself is first up."
"No one has done more to interfere in our elections by spreading Russian propaganda than Hillary Clinton herself. … After all, it was the Clinton campaign that created the Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy, which hamstrung the incoming Trump administration and held the nation hostage for more than two years. After 2,800 subpoenas, 500 witness interview, and nearly 300 wiretaps and pen registers, Special Counsel Robert Mueller concluded that there was zero evidence of collusion by Trump or his associates."
Further, he explained, while no evidence says Trump colluded with Russia, "there's mountains of evidence that Clinton did. Recall it was her campaign that hired Fusion GPS in April 2016 to do opposition research on Trump, then the presumptive GOP nominee. At the time, Fusion GPS was also working on behalf of Prevezon, a company owned by Kremlin-connected Russian oligarch Denis Katsyv, in the company's battle with U.S. prosecutors over Magnitsky Act sanctions. After the Clinton campaign and the DNC retained Fusion GPS, the firm hired Christopher Steele, a former British spy, to dig up dirt on any possible connections between Trump and Russia. These campaign expenditures to Fusion GPS were never disclosed by the Clinton campaign."
Steele's resulting "Dossier" of wild claims about Trump shortly, in fact, was debunked.
However, the claims "served the useful political purpose of insinuating to the media and the FBI that Moscow had dirt on Trump, who was a secret agent of the Kremlin."
The real Russia connections "were all on Clinton's side."
Through Steele benefactor Oleg Deripaska and more.
"The Clinton campaign collusion with Russia gets even worse. The Russian attorney for Prevezon, the Russian company Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson worked for directly, was a woman named Natasha Veselnitskaya. She's the one who set up a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Jared Kushner and Donald Trump, Jr., that was touted as evidence the Trump campaign was colluding with corrupt Russian officials. In that meeting, Veselnitskaya promised to provide 'dirt' on Clinton to the Trump campaign, but the information itself was actually produced by Fusion GPS."
Davidson said Clinton's campaign connections to Russia "are extensive and demning."
When Clinton demanded criminal prosecutions for "disinformation" sources, a commentary at Twitchy said, "As Twitchy readers know, Hillary Clinton openly called for the jailing of Americans who post 'misinformation'. Misinformation. Right. Gosh, wonder who gets to decide what is and isn't misinformation …"
"In other words, Hillary wants the American people to be afraid of the government. How very Democrat/Authoritarian of her. Almost as if she does not want the little people knowing the truth. Keep in mind, this is the same woman who funded the Russian hoax and has done nothing but push misinformation herself for years and years (decades)."
Elon Musk, who bought Twitter, made it X, and has worked to restore free speech there, commented: "Troubling."
Real Clear Politics reported Clinton's comments were to MSNBC leftist Rachel Maddow, who claimed the Kremlin is "interfering" "in yet another presidential election cycle on Trump's behalf."
Clinton said, "So, I think it's important to indict the Russians, just as Mueller indicted a lot of Russians who were engaged in direct election interference and boosting Trump back in 2016. But I also think there are Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda. And whether they should be civilly or even in some cases criminally charged is something that would be a better deterrence, because the Russians are unlikely, except in a very few cases, to ever stand trial in the United States."

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, are taking credit for the recent drop in encounter numbers at the southern border – after reinstating policies similar to what was enacted by former President Donald Trump.
It's no secret that since taking office, the Biden administration, and particularly his VP Harris who was given the border portfolio and forever became known as the "border czar," did absolutely nothing to stop undocumented migrants from pouring over the border and into the interior of the U.S. over the past three years.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection released its August update on Monday, noting the success Biden's Securing the Border interim final rule has had since it was implemented in June of this year.
Troy A. Miller, a senior official performing the duties of the commissioner, said the number of encounters at the southern border has fallen to levels not seen in years.
"CBP continues to enforce the Securing the Border interim final rule and deliver strong consequences for illegal entry, and encounters between ports of entry remain at their lowest level in years. Through the work of our dedicated personnel, this enhanced enforcement posture is meaningfully disrupting the operations of deadly transnational criminal organizations. In August, CBP's counternarcotics surge efforts also led to the seizure of 30% more dangerous drugs than in July – keeping them out of our communities and enabling further enforcement against these criminal networks," Miller said.
According to the CBP report, since the proclamation has been enforced, encounters between ports of entry have decreased by more than 50%. The report notes the executive action has "led to a significant increase in the percentage of migrants removed from the United States and a decrease in the number of people released pending their removal proceedings."
Furthermore, through June 5, and Sept. 10, the Department of Homeland Security has removed or returned more than 131,000 individuals to over 140 countries. DHS has tripled the amount of noncitizens processed for removal and has decreased the amount of releases pending immigration court, according to the report.
"Total removals and returns over the past year exceed removals and returns in any fiscal year since 2010 and a majority of all southwest border encounters during the past three fiscal years resulted in a removal, return, or expulsion," the report states.
However, despite the rosy picture being painted, the border states continue to struggle with undocumented migrants, and are seeing a growing number of violent gangs coming across.
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday his state's plan to target and arrest members of the Tren De Aragua prison gang, which originated in Venezuela, according to the Center Square.
National Border Patrol Council Vice President Chris Cabrera, who was present at the news conference in Houston, said there is no way to vet anyone coming across the southern border, and in some cases, countries like Venezuela have refused to help agents identify people – so those people are let go into the interior of the U.S.
"What people fail to realize is working on the border, we see everything come through, but it doesn't affect us as much as it affects the rest of the United States, especially Houston. Everything that comes through our area just passes through and it ends up as your problem or a problem somewhere up north. If people don't wake up and see it for what it is, we're going to be in a lot of trouble in this country," Cabrera said.
Trump's Remain in Mexico policy and Biden's Interim Final Rule, share many similarities. Both policies made allowances and exemptions for certain aliens, including unaccompanied alien children, lawful permanent residents, noncitizens with a valid visa or any other lawful permission to enter the U.S.
"Under the IFR, aliens arriving in the United States at the southern border during emergency border circumstances who do not fall within the exceptions to the Proclamation's entry restrictions are ineligible for asylum unless they show by a preponderance of the evidence (i.e., that it is more likely than not) that "exceptionally compelling circumstances exist," Biden's proclamation states.
Trump's Migrant Protection Protocols (Remain in Mexico) placed migrants into removal proceedings before an immigration judge. These undocumented migrants were to remain in Mexico throughout their removal proceedings.
"With certain exceptions, MPP applies to aliens arriving in the U.S. on land from Mexico (including those apprehended along the border) who are not clearly admissible and who are placed in removal proceedings under INA § 240. This includes aliens who claim a fear of return to Mexico at any point during apprehension, processing, or such proceedings, but who have been assessed not to be more likely than not to face persecution or torture in Mexico. Unaccompanied alien children and aliens in expedited removal proceedings will not be subject to MPP. Other individuals from vulnerable populations may be excluded on a case-by-case basis," Trump's policy states.
While security at any of the U.S. borders is a good thing, there is a stark difference between how Biden's policy has been accepted, and even celebrated, while Trump's Remain in Mexico policy, enacted in 2019, was touted as divisive, and even racist.
Meanwhile, liberal groups are calling out Harris' plan to implement the bipartisan bill she says was nixed by Trump if she becomes president – which includes continuing to build the wall at the southern border, and increasing funding to detain undocumented migrants.
However, despite her policies mirroring Trump's, some insist they still support Harris' campaign, according to Axios.
Kerri Talbot, executive director of the Immigration Hub, told Axios the group "still opposes this bill," and "if you take out the Ukraine aide that was originally part of the compromise, it's just a Republican bill," but added she still supports the Harris campaign.
Gina Cummings of Oxfam America said her group believes the bill "should not be brought to the Senate floor or passed under any current or future administration."
Meanwhile, Sunil Varghese, policy director at the International Refugee Assistance Project, said "anti-immigrant policies rather than reform or modernize the sorely outdated U.S. immigration system."
