Liberals across the country are up in arms over the arrest last week of a Wisconsin judge accused of obstructing the apprehension and arrest of an illegal immigrant.
However, the Trump FBI's decision to take Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan into custody has found at least some degree of support from a seemingly unlikely source, namely, the man who served as acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under former President Barack Obama, as Breitbart reports.
As Fox News explains, Dugan was arrested on Friday morning on allegations that she endeavored to hide an illegal immigrant who had been previously deported in order to thwart his arrest by ICE agents.
Federal officers from a handful of agencies attempted to make the arrest of Eduardo Flores-Ruiz of Mexico after a court appearance before Dugan related to battery charges.
It was then that Dugan told the officers to go to the chief judge's office, and when Flores-Ruiz's hearing concluded, she allegedly escorted both him and his lawyer out via a restricted exit away from the public part of the building where agents were waiting to apprehend him.
As a result of her conduct, Dugan was charged with obstruction of an official proceeding and also with concealing an individual to prevent discovery and arrest.
Not surprisingly, the arrest has spurred a host of heated reactions on the left, including from Wisconsin Democrat Gov. Tony Evers, who alleged that the Trump administration is employing “dangerous rhetoric to attack and attempt to undermine our judiciary at every level, including disobeying the highest court in the land.”
However, not every Democrat was so quick to jump to Dugan's defense, as John Sandweg, who served as acting director of ICE during Obama's tenure, outlined his objections to the judge's conduct on Friday.
During an appearance on NewsNation's Cuomo, Sandweg, while expressing concern over the impact on ICE cases such as this may have, noted that Dugan's actions were far from appropriate.
Sandweg said of what unfolded in Wisconsin last week, “I would like to see the ICE agents just pick him up outside the courthouse or pick him up as he leaves the courthouse. During the Obama administration, as you know, during the Biden administration, we had a sensitive location policy.”
“We couldn't arrest people in a courthouse. I think there are good reasons for that,” he added.
With respect to Dugan specifically, Sandweg said, “I'm not here to defend this judge. … I think she overstepped here. I think there are other ways to lodge her objections.”
As Fox News noted separately, Dugan's fellow Wisconsin judge, Monica Isham, threatened not to hold court as a means of protesting what occurred on Friday, saying, “I have no intention of allowing anyone to be taken out of my courtroom by ICE and sent to a concentration camp, especially without due process. … Should I start raising bail money?”
Unfortunately, despite all the liberal exhortations that “nobody is above the law,” articulated endlessly during the campaign of lawfare against Donald Trump, it in fact appears that the lion's share of Democrats do believe that those who sit on the bench are entitled to an exemption from that supposedly foundational principle.
On Friday, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump flew to Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, who passed away last week due to health complications.
According to Newsmax, it was also Melania Trump's 55th birthday, and President Donald Trump admitted that he was too busy to buy her a gift. Instead, he treated her to a fancy dinner aboard Air Force One.
The president showed some humility and admitted that the idea of a romantic dinner aboard an airplane might not be everyone's idea of the perfect birthday date, but assured reporters that it was enjoyable for both him and his wife.
Because of the busy flight schedule that included traveling back and forth to Italy for the funeral, the president said his wife was treated to a "working birthday" to celebrate another trip around the sun for the former supermodel.
President Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that between the tariff deals happening, the upcoming marking of his 100th day in office for his second term, and dealing with Ukraine, Iran and Gaza, celebrating her birthday in a traditional manner wasn't realistic.
"I haven't had time to buy presents, it's been pretty busy," Trump admitted, saying Melania had to be fine with a "working birthday" instead.
Newsmax noted:
When asked if he would be taking Melania to dinner to mark her birthday, he replied, "I'm taking her for dinner on the Boeing -- I'm taking her for dinner on Air Force One."
Trump then joked that he would send his wife back into the "lion's den" to talk to reporters herself.
Even with the working birthday aboard the presidential airplane, it was better than last year, as the two spent her birthday apart as he mostly stayed in New York battling several cases against him while Melania stayed in Florida at Mar-a-Lago.
At the time of her birthday last year, Trump told reporters, “It’d be nice to be with her, but I’m at a courthouse for a rigged trial."
While Melania Trump has largely stayed out of the public spotlight for her husband's second term, the two have made a handful of joint appearances together in recent months.
The first lady thanked her supporters for the birthday wishes in an X post.
"Thank you all for the heartfelt birthday wishes. I had the honor of attending Pope Francis' funeral, on this day, where I prayed for the healing of those who are suffering and for peace in the world," she wrote.

It's not observed until the autumn, but President Donald Trump is wasting no time gearing up for Columbus Day, the commemoration of explorer Christopher Columbus landing ashore in the Americas on Oct. 12, 1492.
"I'm bringing Columbus Day back from the ashes," Trump said Sunday on Truth Social.
"The Democrats did everything possible to destroy Christopher Columbus, his reputation, and all of the Italians that love him so much.
"They tore down his Statues, and put up nothing but 'WOKE,' or even worse, nothing at all!
"Well, you'll be happy to know, Christopher is going to make a major comeback.
"I am hereby reinstating Columbus Day under the same rules, dates, and locations as it has had for all of the many decades before!"
Columbus has been the subject of numerous controversies in recent years, with some of his statues removed and even one Detroit teacher wearing a sweatshirt to work on Columbus Day 2019, which read "COLUMBUS WAS A MURDERER" in order to, she claims, "spark discussion."
According to WXYZ, fifth-grade teacher Emma Howland-Bolton said she wanted to "have a conversation" with her Clipper Multicultural Magnet Honors Academy students regarding "different perspectives."
However, a Clipper administrator told her she would have to change her shirt, and she was informed the statement was "her opinion." Howland-Bolton countered that it "is a fact."

The Social Security Administration has reversed itself when confronted over its decision to refuse to grant a religious accommodation to an employee.
The news comes from Liberty Counsel, which worked on the case on behalf of an SSA worker who is now protected from requirements he work on issues involving same-sex issues.
"This settlement agreement complies with Title VII, allowing the employee to do his job without violating his religious beliefs. There simply was no hardship for the Social Security Administration in accommodating this employee's religious beliefs. In addition, President Trump's executive order recognizing biological reality and the binary nature of sex is now helping protect the free exercise of religion and free speech in the federal workplace. People have a right to live according to their conscience and religious beliefs," explained Liberty Counsel chief Mat Staver.
The legal team was able to reach a settlement with the SSA under which the agency is granting the worker an accommodation that allows him to be exempted from policies and tasks "that violate his religious convictions."
"Under the agreement, he no longer has to adjudicate 'same-sex marriage' claims and adhere to other gender-related policies that violate his biblical beliefs on gender and sexuality. After initially being denied a reasonable accommodation, the employee filed a complaint with the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, which has now closed his complaint, making the settlement agreement final," the report said.
It noted that also playing a role in the settlement was President Donald Trump's recent executive order that rebukes the false gender ideology.
"Under the order, 'Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,' the federal government now rejects the concept of 'gender identity' and recognizes there are only two sexes, male and female," the report said.
The order provides that the worker now "will not be required to perform any actions in connection with his duties that would violate the terms of Executive Order 14168." This means the employee will no longer be required to address others by false pronouns and use restrooms with the opposite sex.
Under the SSA practices, it recognizes "same-sex marriage," but under Joe Biden, the options have been expanded to include "more than just two genders," resulting in the agenda calling for using false personal pronouns and more.
"The employee's sincerely held religious beliefs center on biblical teachings that marriage is between one man and one woman, and that God created people as 'male and female' where people cannot change their 'God-given gender,'" Liberty Counsel said.
The SSA already had proven his case for him, because when the issue arose, it assigned him to cases not involving "same-sex" issues with "no negative impact to agency operations," the report said.
It later claimed that the action was, in fact, an "undue hardship."

PALM BEACH, Florida – President Donald Trump is again touting the possibility of eliminating income taxes Americans have to pay each year.
In a Sunday morning message posted on Truth Social, Trump made a forecast about the impact of his tariffs on foreign goods.
"When Tariffs cut in, many people's Income Taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated," Trump stated.
"Focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year.
"Also, massive numbers of jobs are already being created, with new plants and factories currently being built or planned.
It will be a BONANZA FOR AMERICA!!! THE EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE IS HAPPENING!!!"
Tragedy struck as Virginia Giuffre, a courageous survivor of Jeffrey Epstein’s heinous crimes, took her own life at 41, Breitbart reported on Saturday.
Her death, confirmed by her family, occurred on her farm in Western Australia. This loss reverberates through communities fighting against sexual abuse and trafficking.
Giuffre’s suicide marks a somber end for a woman who bravely exposed Epstein’s sex trafficking network. She was a key figure in bringing justice to victims of the late billionaire pedophile. Her family shared their grief in a statement to NBC News.
As a teenager, Giuffre was lured into Epstein’s world under false pretenses. In 2009, she filed a lawsuit against Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. She alleged they recruited her for a supposed masseuse role, only to exploit her as a minor.
Giuffre’s accusations extended beyond Epstein and Maxwell. She claimed Maxwell coerced her into sexual encounters with Britain’s Prince Andrew. These allegations shook the elite circles tied to Epstein’s operations.
In November 2019, Prince Andrew publicly denied Giuffre’s claims. He stated he had “no recollection” of meeting her. Giuffre had described dining, dancing, and engaging in sexual activity with him in London’s Belgravia district.
Giuffre’s testimony proved instrumental in securing justice. Her information aided the U.S. attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York. It also contributed to Maxwell’s eventual conviction for her role in Epstein’s crimes.
Epstein’s death in 2019, a suspected suicide, ended his chance to face a full trial. Found dead in his jail cell, he left behind a trail of victims seeking closure. Giuffre, among them, carried the weight of her trauma publicly.
Her family described her as a “fierce warrior” against sexual abuse. They noted her advocacy lifted countless survivors. Yet, the burden of her experiences ultimately overwhelmed her.
“It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia,” her family said. The statement conveyed their profound sorrow. It highlighted the personal toll of her fight for justice.
“She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking,” they added. This stark reality underscores the lasting damage inflicted by predators like Epstein. Giuffre’s story is a grim reminder of their impact.
Her farm in Western Australia, where she sought peace, became the site of her final moments. The isolation of the location reflects the solitude she may have felt. Her death leaves a void in the survivor community.
Giuffre’s legacy is complex, marked by courage and pain. She exposed powerful figures, forcing accountability where wealth often shields guilt. Her contributions to investigations reshaped the narrative around Epstein’s crimes.
Yet, her family’s words reveal the cost of such bravery. “In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight,” they said. This statement captures the tragedy of her loss.
The fight against trafficking remains urgent, as Giuffre’s story shows. Her accusations against figures like Prince Andrew sparked global conversations. They challenged the untouchable status of the elite.
Virginia Giuffre’s death is a call to continue her work. Her voice, though silenced, echoes through the survivors she inspired. Society must honor her by protecting others from similar fates.
President Donald Trump pardoned health care executive Paul Walczak, whose mother was involved in the plot to expose Ashley Biden's diary, The New York Times reported. Walczak was convicted of tax evasion just two weeks ago.
Due to his conviction, Walczak was ordered to pay $4.4 million in restitution and serve an 18-month prison sentence. The executive allegedly used the money he withheld from the government to purchase luxuries, such as a yacht.
"Paul and his family are truly grateful to the president, and Paul looks forward to returning his focus to his lifelong passion for improving the country’s health care system," Raymond R. Granger, the attorney who drafted the pardon, said. Some believe Trump is rewarding his loyal allies through pardons.
Although he only donated $450 to Trump in the 2020 election, Walczak's mother, Elizabeth Fago, is a longtime Republican fundraiser who helped Trump in his 2020 presidential campaign. She was part of the Ashley Biden diary controversy, which was unrelated to Walczak and his conviction.
In the runup to the 2020 presidential election, the contents of a diary kept by Ashley Biden, daughter of Joe Biden, were leaked to the press. Fago allegedly had a part in that as she was roped in as a donor and fundraiser for the GOP.
Sources close to the matter said that Robert Kurlander, who possessed the diary, reached out to Fago. She immediately saw it as an opportunity to undermine Joe Biden's campaign by releasing the information contained therein.
At a September 2020 fundraiser at Fago's Jupiter, Florida, Kurlander passed around the diary. Later, Fago made the most of the incriminating journal and tipped off Project Veritas about it.
The whistleblower organization paid Kurlander and another woman, Aimee Harris, $40,000 to purchase the diary. The Department of Justice later became involved because the property was considered stolen, and Kurlander and Harris were both convicted as a result.
Fago and her daughter were not convicted, nor was anyone from Project Veritas. However, the legal battle would eventually prove that the diary was indeed authentic and belonged to Joe Biden's daughter, who made some startling admissions.
Once Joe Biden became president, his Department of Justice pursued criminal action against Kurlander and Harris. This proved that what recovering drug addict Ashley Biden wrote was true, at least in her own mind.
In pages released to the press, a handwritten note asking whether she "was molested" and later that she showered with her father and that it was "probably not appropriate." The X account Libs of TikTok shared it with a caption about Harris's conviction.
"Ashley Biden’s diary is real. A woman is now going to prison for selling it. Here’s a reminder of what she wrote," the April 9, 2024. post stated. "Joe Biden showered with his daughter. She felt it was “probably not appropriate” and also questioned if she was m*lested."

As the president, Trump can pardon anyone he pleases, just as Joe Biden did. However, the bigger story is that a man was elected president in 2020 who, at the very least, was privately implicated in some twisted interactions with his own daughter.

Already, a former judge in New Mexico and his wife have been arrested for housing an alleged member of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua terror organization, and a Wisconsin judge has been charged for helping an illegal alien escape from federal agents who arrived at the courthouse during his hearing to take him into custody.
That's probably not the end of actions against activist judges who use their judicial powers to thwart the president's border security agenda, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi
"No one's above the laws in this country," she said. "And if you are destroying evidence, if you're obstructing justice, when you have victims sitting in a courtroom of domestic violence and you're escorting a criminal defendant out a back door, it will not be tolerated, and it is a crime in the United States of America. Doesn't matter who you are, you're going to be prosecuted."
The latest arrest was of Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan, who was taken into custody by the FBI for allegedly hiding a previously deported illegal immigrant in her jury room in order to stop him from being arrested by ICE.
Fox News reported Dugan was charged with obstruction.
In an interview on "American Reports," Bondi explained how the Trump administration will handle judges who obstruct and block federal efforts to secure the border and remove illegal aliens.
"We are going to prosecute you, and we are prosecuting you. I found out about this the day it happened," she said.
"We could not believe, actually, that a judge really did that. We looked into the facts in great depth… You cannot obstruct a criminal case. And really, shame on her. It was a domestic violence case of all cases, and she's protecting a criminal defendant over victims of crime."
Dugan is accused of protecting illegal alien Eduardo Flores-Ruiz after his criminal court hearing before Dugan just days ago.
"Dugan demanded that the (federal) officers proceed to the chief judge's office and – after his hearing ended – escorted Flores-Ruiz and his attorney out a restricted jury door, bypassing the public area where agents were waiting in order to help him avoid arrest, per the complaint," the report said.
Bondi pointed out that Flores-Ruiz fled on foot, creating a threat to the public.
"We're sending a very strong message today," she said. "If you are harboring a fugitive, we don't care who you are. If you're helping hide one, if you are giving a TDA member guns, anyone who is illegally in this country, we will come after you and we will prosecute you. We will find you."
The earlier arrests were of ex-New Mexico Magistrate Judge Joel Cano and his wife, Nancy Cano.
They allegedly harbored a suspected Tren de Aragua terror group member, Cristhian Ortega-Lopez.
This story was originally published by the WND News Center.
A former New Mexico judge and his wife, accused of harboring an alleged Tren de Aragua terror organization member who was in the United States illegally, have now been arrested.
A report at the Post Millennial said the investigation conducted by Homeland Security Investigations initially targeted Nancy Cano, but then also involved the former judge, who has been barred from the court system by the New Mexico state Supreme Court.
"Initially, we came back here to arrest his wife, and as we started conducting our interviews and started looking at evidence, we subsequently arrested Mr. Cano as well," explained Jason T. Stevens, special agent.
The former judge, Joel Cano, was in the courts in Dona Ana County before his abrupt resignation.
Officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the two are accused of conspiracy and evidence tampering. Tren de Aragua is a violent Venezuelan gang that has been designated as a foreign terror group.
The report explained, "Cano rented out property to Cristhian Oretega-Lopez, an alleged gang member, at his wife's behest last year. They met Ortega-Lopez when he was hired by the couple to do homework for them, the criminal complaint reads."
Prosecutors also charged that Cano's daughter had firearms in the home and let Ortega-Lopez pose with them, and fire them.
Ortega-Lopez, who admitted to entering the United States illegally in 2023, was arrested, and the firearms were seized weeks ago.
Stevens explained several others were living at the residence at the time, and all three, "we believe, are alleged members of that (Tren de Aragua). Obviously, we continue just to focus on the totality of the investigation instead of just zeroing out on them."
ICE stated, "On April 24, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement executed a search warrant and probable cause arrest at a residence in the 1200 block of North Reymond Street in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Homeland Security Investigations special agents working with federal law enforcement partners took Nancy Cano into custody as part of an ongoing HSI-led criminal investigation."

A California dad's account of getting billed more for his daughter's medically needed ambulance ride because he has insurance has gone viral, with millions watching and hearing his stunning report.
It's because of a new state law that requires a "discount" for uninsured people, but in his case, the process billed a man four times as much because he has insurance. His insurance paid only a portion.
It is the Gateway Pundit that said it was "the latest example of how backward and broken California's Democrat-run healthcare system has become.
It is Robby Witt who went to TikTok with his story.
He initially was billed $600 for the ride. Then, when he informed officials he had insurance, his bill was jacked up to $2,342, of which is insurance paid less than $1,100, leaving the rest for him.
"This is not satire. This is the state of healthcare in America—a lifesaving ambulance ride for my daughter. The state of California is penalizing citizens who have insurance," he said.
He explained to the operator he got the bill for $600, then provided insurance information, and was billed more than double.
The first showed the state-mandated discount, he is told.
"Can I go back to the discount without the insurance?" he asks.
No, he is told. "Since you're insured, you're not eligible for the discount."
How about canceling the insurance?
Not good enough, because that would have had to have been done before the service was needed, he's told.
"You're only eligible for the discount if you're uninsured," he is told.
He's told, "This is just a new law that started in 2024—AB 716. The law is that you receive a discount if you're uninsured. When we first send an invoice to the patient, we bill them as if they're uninsured. If you're insured, unfortunately, you're not eligible for the discount."
The Gateway Pundit noted Witt was interviewed by Fox:
"Your whole life, you've been told, right? Like, you want to buy health insurance so that if something – God forbid – happens, then you will get a lower rate than if you didn't have the insurance. Like, that's what we've all been told our whole lives. And then the exact opposite happened. My real problem, I guess, is that it's based off of insurance and why this bill wasn't written based off of income… So in fact, you could have a higher-income family than me who decides to say, you know what? We're not going to buy insurance. And now, all of a sudden, their ambulance bills are going to be cheaper, even though they're higher income."
He noted, "Sometimes when they go to legislate these things, I don't know if they ran out of IQ points to get it done, but it just doesn't make sense to me that you would offer discounts based on whether someone's insured and not based off of their W-2 income."
