Devon Archer, a former close friend and business partner of Hunter Biden, sat Monday for a transcribed interview with the House Oversight Committee to testify about his personal knowledge of and experience with the Biden family's foreign business dealings.

Following that testimony, Archer was also interviewed by Tucker Carlson, during which Carlson asked about a personal "Thank you" note then-Vice President Joe Biden had sent to Archer with regard to the business partnership he had with his son, Breitbart reported.

That note in particular, and Archer's testimony more broadly, exposed and undermined the prior oft-repeated lies of current President Biden that he had no knowledge of or involvement in any of his son's business dealings, be they foreign or domestic.

VP Biden's "Thank you" note to Archer

Toward the end of a nearly 12-minute interview with Archer that Carlson posted to social media on Wednesday, the former top-rated Fox News host shared a personal note that then-Vice President Biden sent to Archer in January 2011 that thanked him for attending a White House luncheon.

"We found this letter. It's kind of amazing. It's from January 20, 2011," Carlson said to Archer of the note he held. "This is from the vice president of the United States, Joe Biden, to you, personally. It's personalized here at the bottom."

Carlson further noted that the letter was addressed to Archer at the Rosemont Seneca Partners business he shared with Hunter Biden, and read, "'Dear Devon: I apologize for not getting a chance to talk to you at the luncheon yesterday. I was having trouble getting away from hosting President Hu' -- Jintao, who was running China at that point."

"'I hope I get a chance to see you again soon with Hunter. I hope you enjoyed lunch. Thanks for coming. Sincerely, Joseph R. Biden, Jr. P.S.' -- handwritten -- 'Happy you guys are together,'" he concluded, and asked, "What was he thanking you for?"

"An abuse of soft power"

"First of all, it’s a lovely letter," Archer said in reply, to which a laughing Carlson responded, "It’s quite enthusiastic; it’s a little weird though, right?"

"Well, it was. Listen, it was, it was kind of the beginning of our partnership," Archer explained. "And he was thanking me and thanking Hunter, I think, at the end of the day, for bringing this idea of this government regulatory strategic advisory business into the private equity world. And I think he was excited about the prospects for Hunter. And, you know, he was just, just thanking me. I think it was a nice gesture."

Earlier in the interview, Carlson and Archer had discussed his prior business partnership with Hunter that was ostensibly focused on providing strategic advice to clients about dealing with the "regulatory environment" but in reality was all about "selling access" to people in power in Washington D.C., including Biden's father.

"It’s an abuse of soft power," Archer acknowledged at one point. "Obviously, the brand of Biden, you know, adds a lot of power when your dad’s vice president."

Archer's testimony to the Oversight Committee

What Archer had to say in that interview with Carlson appears to align with what the Republican-led House Oversight Committee said Archer testified about at length on Monday -- that Hunter Biden was selling access to "the brand," that "the brand" was then-Vice President Biden, and that VP Biden routinely joined his son's business meetings either in person or on speakerphone to help sell "the brand" in furtherance of his son's business dealings, among other things.

"Devon Archer’s testimony today confirms Joe Biden lied to the American people when he said he had no knowledge about his son’s business dealings and was not involved," Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said in a statement. "Joe Biden was 'the brand' that his son sold around the world to enrich the Biden family. When Joe Biden was Vice President of the United States, he joined Hunter Biden’s dinners with his foreign business associates in person or by speakerphone over 20 times."

"Why did Joe Biden lie to the American people about his family’s business dealings and his involvement? It begs the question what else he is hiding from the American people," the chairman added. "The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability will continue to follow the Bidens’ money trail and interview witnesses to determine whether foreign actors targeted the Bidens, President Biden is compromised and corrupt, and our national security is threatened."
