President Joe Biden once again said something so out of left field that some are wondering where he’s really fit to be leader of the free world.
While discussing the damage caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida at an event in New Jersey on Tuesday, Biden appeared to claim — without elaboration — that nobody refers to tornadic weather events as “tornadoes” anymore, Townhall reported.
Say what now?
Biden was reportedly speaking in Hillsborough Township alongside a number of other state and federal officials.
“You know, the members of Congress know from their colleagues in Congress that, you know, the — what looks like a tornado — they don’t call them that anymore — that hit the crops and wetlands in the middle of the country, in Iowa, in Nevada, and — I mean, it’s just across the board,” Biden said, according to a White House transcript. “And, you know, as I said, we’re in this together.”
Take a look at video of the incident shared by Townhall:

Biden went on to ramble about the topic of climate change and its impact on extreme weather events — and, of course, break down his reasons why raising taxes and increasing government spending would somehow solve the problem.
Here’s what he (probably) meant
While it’s of course not immediately clear what the president meant by his bizarre comments, Breitbart reports that Biden was probably trying to reference an extreme weather phenomenon known as a derecho, a severe storm featuring heavy rains and sustained straight-line winds at high speeds that can cause damage similar to that of the whirling vortices commonly referred to as tornadoes.
As for Biden’s talk of purported wetlands in Nevada, that can be explained by a derecho, too, Breitbart notes.
In August 2020, such a storm utterly demolished an Iowa town named Nevada and damaged or destroyed millions of acres of farmland in the Midwestern state.
Still, the issue of Biden’s blunder remains. What may have been shrugged off as a simple flub of the tongue by another politician is, for Biden, the latest in a series of gaffes that’s been growing since he was on the campaign trail.
And they wonder why Americans are losing confidence in him.
