In the liberal bastion of California, where gasoline prices have managed to hit $7.00 per gallon in some locations, Democrats are already scheming up ways to provide cash handouts to help Californians deal with the price hikes.
According to Breitbart, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) seems to be ready to back a deal that would offer residents $400 gas rebate to offset the rising costs, but failed to point out that not only would non-drivers receive the free money, but he also failed to note that its the progressive, aggressive “green” Democratic policies that have cause the price to skyrocket in the first place.
The Democratic governor talked about the possibility of the handouts during his recent “State of the State” address.
California also happens to be one of the richest oil and natural gas resource-rich states in the entire nation, but given the Democrats’ push for a fantasy land of electric vehicles and windmills to keep the lights on, not to mention a long list of carbon emissions taxes, coupled with President Joe Biden’s ridiculous anti-fossil fuel policies, Democratic leaders are directly responsible for the current situation.
It’s a cheap “bribe”
Breitbart’s Joel Pollak noted that offering cash handouts for such situation is typical of liberal leaders in the state.
“The rebate is a typical California Democratic proposal to bribe taxpayers with their own money, without addressing the basic underlying problem,” Pollak wrote.
He added: “Newsom and the Democrats specialize in these kinds of gimmicks, while ignoring actual solutions. Instead of freeing the local oil and gas industry, Newsom is promising to end it by 2045,” adding that Newsom made similar moves during the severely restricted conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In his entire “State of the State” address, he did not even mention California’s ongoing drought, nor did he propose water infrastructure that might alleviate future droughts,” Pollak continued.
Taking the obvious asinine approach to the problem out of the question, critics are already blasting the governor and the state’s legislature over the amount of the checks, which won’t go very far for the average, commuting Californian when it comes time to fill up.
It’s not unlike the $1200 rebate checks Americans received over the course of the pandemic, which barely covered rent for many, let alone food and other critical bills.
It’s also interesting how convenient the Democrats’ timing is when it comes to handing out free money, which almost always seems to come when they’re facing difficulties in an upcoming election.
Only time will tell if the states’ liberal leaders move forward with the plan, but with gas still on the rise and no end in sight to this disaster, it’s nothing less than a slap in the face.
