House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) this week finally gained access to an internal FBI form he had been seeking that allegedly outlined information received from a trusted informant about a bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.
After reviewing the FBI's FD-1023 form, Comer has now revealed that the foreign national was actually a Ukrainian businessman, Breitbart reported.
Further, that unnamed Ukrainian businessman is alleged to have offered to pay a "substantial bribe" to Biden of $5 million in exchange for influence over certain U.S. policy decisions.
"Today, FBI officials confirmed that the unclassified, FBI-generated record has not been disproven and stated several times the information contained within it is currently being used in an ongoing investigation," Chairman Comer said in a statement Monday.
"The confidential human source who provided information about then-Vice President Biden being involved in a criminal bribery scheme is a trusted, highly credible informant who has been used by the FBI for years," he added. "These are facts and no amount of spin, and frankly lies, from the White House or Congressional Democrats can change this information."
Tuesday, in an interview with Just the News, when asked which foreign nation was involved in the alleged bribery scheme, Comer replied, "Yes, it is Ukraine," and revealed, "This form 1023 involves a business person from Ukraine, who allegedly sent a bribe, a substantial bribe to then Vice President Joe Biden."
When asked if that Ukrainian business person was Mykola Zlochevsky, the oligarch who owned Burisma Holdings, the energy firm the Hunter Biden sat on the board of for several years, Comer dodged and said, "I probably better punt on that question. The name was redacted."
In Chairman Comer's interview with Just the News, he went on to also reveal that, per footnotes on the FD-1023 form, it was apparent that the information had first been provided to the FBI in 2017, then again in "either 2018 or 2019," and finally for a third time in June 2020, "So this wasn't the first time that the informant had mentioned a bribery scheme pertaining to Joe Biden to the FBI."
He also stated that while his committee was "following the money" in investigating the various bank accounts, limited liability corporations, and offshore accounts established by various members of the Biden family in an effort to trace any monetary payments directly to the president.
"When you first read about it, it's hard to believe," Comer said. "It's hard to believe that a vice president of the United States would try to take a bribe from a foreign national, in a company -- in a country that's, at the time not noted for anything other than a lot of corruption, and then asked that the money be sent through shell companies and various banks to launder it to where no one would know about it."
The chairman went on to express his suspicions that, much like with the numerous Suspicious Activity Reports the Treasury Department had received over the years from financial institutions about various Biden family members, the FBI was likely sitting on the allegations of Joe Biden's bribery scheme and never fully investigated it.
Meanwhile, also on Tuesday, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) delivered a floor speech that lambasted the FBI for initially stonewalling requests and subpoenas from himself and Chairman Comer for the FD-1023 form that has now been confirmed to not only exist but to have been in the Bureau's possession for several years.
"Today, I can say that based upon unclassified and legally protected whistleblower disclosures the FBI source in the 1023 has been paid at least two-hundred thousand dollars by the FBI since the source was opened and operational," the senator said. "High dollar payments obviously mean the FBI believes the source to be credible and reputable."
"Here, with this 1023 document I’ve been referring to throughout my remarks, the Biden Justice Department and FBI must explain to Congress and the American people what, if anything, they’ve done with this information. And they need to show their work. We’re not accepting their word anymore. We’re seeking documentary proof of what they did to investigate the matter or their failure to so do," Grassley concluded. "So, to the Justice Department and the FBI: Quit playing games and recognize who you work for. You’re not working to protect the corporate interests of the FBI -- You’re working for the American people."
