Former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s oldest son dies suddenly

The death of any family member is never easy, but it is especially hard for parents when they lose a child.

Former Republican Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is experiencing this loss now, as her oldest son, Ronald Brewer, passed away unexpectedly over the weekend at the age of 54.

Unexpected passing

While the family has not yet released the actual cause of death, it does appear as though it was from natural causes.

The obituary released by the family stated that he died in his sleep.

He was clearly an outdoor enthusiast, as the obituary described him as someone who thoroughly enjoyed activities like camping and hiking.

“Ron’s adventurous spirit and outgoing personality brought him numerous friends through athletics, skiing and motor cross, which he earned several awards,” the obituary read. “He attended private high school in Provo, Utah and graduated valedictorian of his class. Ron loved his shoes, which would take him to his favorite activities like camping, enjoying nature, picking out flowers and experiencing hiking up the Hole in the Rock to watch the brilliant Phoenix sunsets.”

“His beaming smile, sense of humor and giggle when he laughed were contagious,” it continued. “Always willing to lend a helping hand, he was kind, patient, and generous to everyone his path crossed. He’d share anything he had with anyone he met, including literally the shirt off his back. Ron was a friend to all.”

The local paper, the Arizona Republic, provided a bit more information about her son.

According to a recent article, Ronald Brewer suffered from mental illness.

The report also linked him to a 1989 assault case, in which he was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Second loss

This is now the second son Mrs. Brewer has lost. Another son, John Brewer, died in 2007 from cancer.

This loss comes at an especially hard time for Brewer.

Now she not only has to deal with the death of her son, but she is also active on the campaign trail trying to help her fellow Republicans in their mid-term campaigns.

Clearly, she will have to take a step back from politics to care for her family as well as grieve for the loss of her son.

Rest in peace Ronald.

And, Mrs. Brewer, know every heart in the country today is heavy and feels your loss.
