Border Patrol union boss slams VP Harris for not visiting border during migrant crisis

Vice President Kamala Harris has been on the receiving end of increased criticism for her apparent refusal to commit to visiting the southern U.S. border, where a migration crisis continues to explode — and the president of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) has a theory as to why.

According to Fox News, NBPC president Brandon Judd, who oversees the 18,000-member group, revealed in an interview with the network’s Griff Jenkins that he believes Harris is avoiding the border visit because if she finally makes the trip, then she’ll have no choice but to begin fixing the problem.

The criticism comes weeks after Harris was tasked by President Joe Biden to address “the root causes of migration” in both Mexico and the Central American countries that make up the “Northern Triangle.”

“Disgusting”

Judd held nothing back as he proposed his theory as to why Harris has clearly avoided taking a trip to the southern U.S. border to get a first-hand look at how shockingly bad the situation has become over the past several months.

“Because if she goes to the U.S. border, people are going to expect her to fix the problem, so she avoids it,” Judd said, according to Fox.

Judd went on to describe Harris’ lack of action as “disgusting,” while accusing her of putting politics ahead of what’s best for America, as she seems to be purposely looking the other way while young, migrant children are literally being tossed over what remains of the southern border wall.

Like the opinion of many Americans and politicians alike, Judd told Jenkins that he believes visiting the southern U.S. border during the crisis is “what the president and the vice president are supposed to do.”

He also revealed that in the 24 hours prior to his interview, some 1,600 illegal immigrants had been captured at the border on that day, marking a stunning increase in daily detainments, the likes of which haven’t been seen in the 20-year-long careers of many of the agents who work on the border.

Come here legally

Unlike what many in the left-leaning mainstream media want their viewers to believe, Republicans and conservatives are certainly not against immigration, they just perfer those fleeing their countries to take up residence in the United States to go about it the legal way, as millions have done before them.

“We have the biggest open arms. We want to accept people into this country but we want to do it legally, not illegally,” Judd said, according to Fox.

Judd slammed Democrats for allowing the surge in immigration to continue, reminding viewers that those being smuggled into the country are often the victims of horrible abuse, including sexual assaults, physical and mental abuse.

While it’s unclear at the time of this writing if and when Harris — and/or Biden — will take time out of their schedule to visit the southern U.S. border, it’s the least they can do at this point if they have any interest in showing the country that they’re capable of leading in times of crisis.
