Democrats and their media allies appear to have forgotten — or more likely, have deliberately ignored — the absolute and utter hell that was inflicted, to some extent or another, against all three Supreme Court justices nominated by former President Donald Trump, to say nothing of the harsh treatment received by other jurists nominated by past Republican presidents.
That was exemplified Thursday by Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), who implied that GOP opposition to recently confirmed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was the worst sort of “insulting and demeaning and degrading” and even “filthy” treatment ever witnessed, Breitbart reported.
How quickly they have forgotten
Sen. Booker joined CNN’s Wolf Blitzer in the “Situation Room” Thursday evening to celebrate the 53-47 vote in the Senate to confirm Jackson as the next associate justice of the Supreme Court, but spent a moment discussing Jackson’s racial and gender status and what that means in the broader context of racism and sexism in American history.
“So I think this is more than just a normal hearing,” Booker said. “I think that when people saw — not all of my Republican colleagues, not even most of them — but when some of them went to lines of questioning that were seeming insulting and demeaning and degrading, or just plain filthy, frankly.”
“I think there were a lot of people that felt like their wounds were being poked as well and they were hurting and to see her rise above all of that to this moment to this day, that gives so many people a sense of joy,” the Democratic senator added.

Biden decries “vile” GOP treatment of Jackson
Of course, Sen. Booker most certainly was not alone in forgetting or ignoring the horrific treatment he and his fellow Democrats delivered to Justice Brett Kavanaugh just a few years earlier.
President Joe Biden — who bears substantial blame for transforming judicial confirmation hearings into the partisan circus events they are today — also got in on the act Friday and accused Republicans of treating Jackson in a “vile” manner.
During a White House celebration of Jackson’s confirmation, Biden said, “I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I knew the person I nominated would be put through a painful and difficult confirmation process.”
“But I have to tell you, what Judge Jackson was put through was well beyond that. There was verbal abuse. The anger. The constant interruptions. The most vile, baseless assertions and accusations,” he added.
Compare the treatment of Jackson to that of Kavanaugh, Barrett, and Gorsuch
So what was it that Republicans did to earn these terrible descriptors? They simply pressed her on her record of leniency toward criminals — especially child pornographers — and attempted to nail her down on her decidedly unclear judicial philosophy and stance on certain constitutional rights.
It’s not like they berated and accused her, in front of her children, of being an alcohol-fueled gang rapist, or a racist religious nutjob colonizer, or even an illegitimate nominee in a stolen seat, because, you know, Democrats always take the high road and have never been anything other than civil and highly respectful in prior recent judicial confirmation hearings … right?
