Biden tries to reverse Dems’ ‘defund the police’ movement in SOTU address

While the issue has been pushed to the backburner as the Russian invasion of Ukraine steals the headlines, America’s shockingly horrific crime crisis is still happening, and President Joe Biden touched on the issue during his first State of the Union address to the nation on Tuesday night, USA Today reported.

For years, many in the Democratic Party have either directly pushed or supported the “defund the police” movement, which proved to be a total failure and largely unpopular. However, during Biden’s address, it appears as if magically, the Democrats were apparently never really behind that message, as Biden made an effort to completely reverse the narrative.

“Let’s not abandon our streets. Or choose between safety and equal justice,” the president stated.

He added: “We should all agree: The answer is not to defund the police. The answer is to fund the police. Fund them with resources and training they need to protect our communities.”

The reversal

Just like they dropped mask mandates days before the SOTU address, along with a number of blue states that have suddenly dropped many COVID pandemic mandates, critics believe that Democrats are simply reacting to what’s hilarious being called the “midterm variant.”

Biden clearly took that to a whole new level on Tuesday night, acting as if the Democratic Party is somehow now the pro-law enforcement party, when in fact, the Democrats have been the party that has demonized police for years now, which has resulted in more law enforcement deaths along with America’s crime wave.

Most logical and reasonable people can see through the charade, however, as the November midterms are inching closer, and the Dems’ hugely unpopular, progressive policies have already bitten them in early elections.

Now, they’re racing to change their tune in a desperate attempt to gain back some of the voters they’ve lost since the 2020 election.

Critics on both sides

Unsurprisingly, Biden was ridiculed across social media by those who understand what he’s doing.

However, it wasn’t only conservative voices who were outraged at Biden’s pro-police message to the nation, as the official Twitter account of Black Lives Matter (BLM) used Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) to signal their disgust with the messaging.
