Biden to release more oil from reserves after OPEC announces cutbacks

The White House of President Joe Biden has announced that it will be releasing even more oil from America’s reserves, Fox News reports

This comes after OPEC and its allies, known as OPEC+, announced on Wednesday that they will be cutting back their oil production by 2 million barrels per day, the largest production cut since the COVID pandemic.

OPEC+ announced its decision some three months after Biden made a trip to Saudi Arabia in an attempt to get them to increase production. It now appears that this attempt failed.

“Shortsighted”

On Wednesday, the White House put out a statement calling OPEC+’s decision to cut production “shortsighted.”

“The President is disappointed by the shortsighted decision by OPEC+ to cut production quotas while the global economy is dealing with the continued negative impact of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine,” the statement reads.

OPEC+’s production cut was also slammed by multiple members of the Biden administration, including White House Press Secretary Karen Jean-Pierre, who accused OPEC+ of “aligning with Russia.”

Tapping into the reserves . . . again

The Biden administration, in response to OPEC+’s production cut, has announced that it will be releasing another 10 million barrels of oil from America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve in November.

Biden, since becoming president, has already released over 200 million barrels from the reserves, which is more than all previous presidents combined. The reserves are now at their lowest level since 1984.

Despite this, Biden continues to refuse to boost oil production on American land.

Heading for disaster

One might think that Biden tapping into America’s oil reserves goes against his and his fellow Democrats’ green agenda. One may further argue that Biden is only doing this in order to keep energy prices down in America through the midterm elections. And, there is no doubt that there is some truth to this.

But, Biden tapping into the reserves can also be looked at in a different way. It could be viewed as Biden attempting to hasten America’s departure from fossil fuels by draining America’s oil reserves. The reserves, after all, are at their lowest level in decades and nothing is being done to replenish them.

The big question is what happens when the oil runs out, green energy isn’t sufficient to power the country, and Biden continues to refuse to allow oil production on American land? Biden appears to be leading America into an energy disaster.
