President Joe Biden finally caved to pressure from those in his party who want to enshrine into law radical ideas about gender and sexuality and punish those who don’t fall in line.
In a statement on Friday, Biden urged Congress to pass the radical “Equality Act,” which essentially strips the legal definitions of male and female sexes, Breitbart reported.
If the Equality Act becomes law, “female athletes will be forced to compete against biological males; women will be forced to share private spaces like bathrooms, locker rooms, and shelters with men; and religious charities will be coerced into violating their beliefs or else be shut down,” said Terry Schilling, executive director of American Principles Project.
The Women’s Liberation Front published a long list of consequences for women if the bill passes, which stem from the bill’s rewriting of civil rights law to include “sexual orientation and gender identity” as protected classes.
“The bill prohibits an individual from being denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room, and a dressing room, that is in accordance with the individual’s gender identity,” WFL wrote.
This alone means that women will have no recourse if they don’t want to share restrooms, domestic violence and rape shelters, locker rooms or sport’s teams with biological men.
As noted by Ethics & Public Policy Center president Ryan Anderson, “religious institutions fare no better.” He explained in a statement:
Religious schools, adoption agencies, and other charities would face federal sanction for operating according to basic biology and mainstream Biblical teaching on sex and marriage. Outrageously, this act exempts itself from the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Pope Francis would be treated as the legal equivalent of a Jim Crow segregationist.
Will it pass?
This bill is one of many pieces of radical legislation that the progressive elements of the Democratic Party are pushing Biden to get behind.
The bill is expected to be voted on in the House as soon as next week, Breitbart reported. Although Democrats have an extremely slim majority, it’s still enough to get the bill moving toward the Senate. If Republicans and Democrats vote party line, Vice President Kamala Harris will cast the tie-breaking vote before it’s sent to the president’s desk for a signature.
Given that Harris was rated the “most liberal” senator in 2019, according to Gov Track Insider, she would undoubtedly vote in favor of the bill.
There is already a backlash from those who fear the dire consequences of the bill’s passage, with many high-profile conservatives urging their followers to plead with their elected representatives to do whatever they can to derail the effort.
EPPC Fellow Mary Rice Hasson warned, “The Equality Act is nothing short of a Pandora’s Box which, once opened, will unleash damaging consequences impossible to undo.”
