A new record has been set for illegal alien encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the Daily Wire.
It will come as no surprise to anyone that the record is set under the open border administration of President Joe Biden.
Biden entered the U.S. presidency with the promise to repeal the anti-illegal immigration policies of former President Donald Trump. And, Biden followed through on that promise immediately.
Ever since illegal immigration at the southern border has been taking place at an astronomical rate – and, it’s not slowing down. In fact, if anything, it’s speeding up.
The latest figures
Last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released its latest figures, and it was with these figures that Biden and his administration made history.
What the numbers show is that the CBP had 251,487 encounters with illegal aliens during the month of December 2022 – which is actually part of the 2023 Fiscal Year, considering that a fiscal year runs from October to September.
According to the Daily Wire, this is “the highest number ever recorded in U.S. history.”
Previous Decembers do not even come close. December 2021 (Fiscal Year 2022), for example, saw 179,253 illegal alien encounters; December 2020 (Fiscal Year 2021) saw 73,994 encounters; and December 2019 (Fiscal year 2020) saw only 40,565 encounters.
What’s more is that this past December was the highest month of illegal immigrant encounters of the 2022 calendar year, despite the fact that the year saw some of the highest months on record, such as the 241,136 encounters that took place during May 2022.
It’s not slowing down
Fox News reports:
There were more than 2.3 million migrant encounters in FY 2022 alone, topping the then-historic 1.7 million encountered in FY 2021.
The bad news is that Fiscal Year 2023 is clearly on pace to top Fiscal Year 2022. Fox continues:
So far in FY 2023, which began in October, the first two months have outpaced the same period last year — with 233,740 encounters in November, compared to 174,845 in 2021 and 73,994 in 2020.
Adding to these figures the 251,487 encounters that occurred in December, the total amount of illegal alien encounters that have been witnessed by CBP during the first three months of the fiscal year is now 717,660. This puts the United States on pace to have 2.87 million illegal alien encounters during the 2023 fiscal year.
It’s a staggering figure. And, the numbers continue to go up despite the fact that Biden and his administration claim to be taking steps to address the southern border crisis.
The latest figures suggest, as many commentators have suggested, Biden’s recent visit to the border was nothing more than a political ploy designed to alleviate the criticism that he has been facing for the southern border crisis.
