Even though she has done nothing but fail at every task put before her, President Joe Biden is sending Vice President Kamala Harris back to Eastern Europe to “bolster” NATO members Poland and Romania as they risk being drawn into Ukraine’s fight against Russia.
Harris was in Munich last month but didn’t manage to do much to stop Russia from invading Ukraine at that time.
While Europe and the U.S. have levied strong sanctions against Russia for its actions against Ukraine, no nation has sanctioned Russian oil and gas, profits from which are funding the invasion. The U.S. and other countries have given Ukraine money and weapons for their defense, however.
If the world did refuse to buy Russian oil and gas, energy prices would likely rise even faster and higher, particularly in Europe where nations are highly dependent on Russian oil.
What can Harris do?
What Harris can even do to help the situation is unclear, and some Republicans are asking whether it is a wise idea to send her with her record of previous failures.
“Kamala Harris has not succeeded in any of the tasks that have been assigned to her. Why are we sending her to Europe again next week?” Andy Biggs (R-AZ) asked.
“Please for the love of God, send a serious person,” Meghan McCain tweeted.
“The vice-president’s visit will demonstrate the strength and unity of the NATO Alliance and U.S. support for NATO’s eastern flank allies in the face of Russian aggression. It will also highlight our collective efforts to support the people of Ukraine,” Harris’ office said in a statement.
Harris will “discuss our continuing support for the people of Ukraine through security, economic, and humanitarian assistance and our determination to impose severe economic consequences on Russia and those complicit in Russia’s invasion,” the statement said.
But it’s just as likely that Biden has ulterior motives for sending Harris out of the country.
Possibly, he and his handlers just don’t want to deal with her and the way she has of messing up everything she touches.
Another possible motive is that he wants to have someone else to blame if things in the region go south.
