This week, the Trump administration announced a massive diplomatic achievement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
After the deal was announced, Joe Biden tried to steal President Donald Trump’s thunder by taking credit for it — but according to Fox News, that move from the former VP drew crushing remarks from Muslim scholar Dr. Qanta Ahmed.
How dare he?
Anyone who followed the Obama administration during the eight years he and Biden were in office will be more than familiar with the contempt in which they held the state of Israel and its leaders.
As such, it was rather startling to hear Biden attempt to take some credit after Trump announced the peace agreement between Israel and the UAE.
That is what he did, though. According to Fox, Biden said: “I personally spent time with leaders of both Israel and the UAE during our administration building the case for cooperation and broader engagement and the benefits it could deliver to both nations, and I am gratified by today’s announcement.”
Thankfully, there was at least one talking head who was willing to go on the record and tell the truth about what Biden was claiming.
“It’s so craven of Vice President Biden to try to claim that,” Ahmed said in response to Biden’s boast, as Fox reported.
He went on: “President Obama and Vice President Biden did nothing other than empower Iran, feed into the Islamist machine, bring back funds that would be then deployed to Hezbollah, undermine and delegitimize the Sunni Muslim world, eviscerate any confidence the Arab world had in the United States, and laid the ground for tremendous mistrust. They sided with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt against the Egyptian people.”
Acknowledging what the current administration has done to facilitate more productive relations in the region, Ahmed continued, “So this is such a welcomed refreshing change that Muslims around the world owe a debt of gratitude to President Trump and to Jared Kushner, and also recognize Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the leader of the UAE, is really the powerhouse.”
Embarrassing media response
Perhaps even worse than Biden’s self-aggrandizing commentary is the reaction of the mainstream media to the peace deal.
Major news outlets either offered mocking remarks about the achievement or just simply refused to provide more than cursory mention of it simply because it was good news for the Trump administration.
This is precisely the sort of appalling bias we have seen from the media for almost four years, and even when Trump makes a real contribution to world peace and global stability, journalists can’t bring themselves to admit the man is doing the job and doing it well.
