Biden reportedly frustrated that Trump hasn’t been prosecuted over Jan. 6 Capitol riot

Democrats want nothing more than to hamstring former President Donald Trump and those in his orbit prior to the November midterms, and many believe they’re using the Jan. 6 House Select Committee to do just that.

According to The Daily Wire, the anti-Trump hysteria rises all the way to the top of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., as it was reported recently in a bombshell New York Times piece that President Joe Biden firmly believes that his predecessor should be “prosecuted” for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot — whatever that role might be.

Not only is Biden interested in seeing Trump in serious legal trouble, but he’s also reportedly somewhat frustrated with Attorney General Merrick Garland’s investigation into Jan. 6, which still hasn’t landed anywhere close to hitting the former president with any type of charges.

The White House has insisted in the wake of the report that nobody in the Biden administration has attempted to interfere with the ongoing DOJ investigation into that day.

The report

In no uncertain terms, the Times revealed that close associates to the president clearly understood that Biden wants Trump prosecuted, though it failed to say for what, exactly.

“As recently as late last year, Mr. Biden confided to his inner circle that he believed former President Donald J. Trump was a threat to democracy and should be prosecuted, according to two people familiar with his comments,” the report said.

The next section added speculation that Biden’s White House is extremely interested in seeing its Justice Department make aggressive moves.

“And while the president has never communicated his frustrations directly to Mr. Garland, he has said privately that he wanted Mr. Garland to act less like a ponderous judge and more like a prosecutor who is willing to take decisive action over the events of Jan. 6,” the report continued.

Garland responds

AG Garland responded to rumors about potentially being pressured, at least indirectly, to get aggressive in his approach to prosecuting the big fish related to Jan. 6.

His answer presumably wasn’t to Biden’s liking.

“The only pressure I feel, and the only pressure that our line prosecutors feel, is to do the right thing. That means we follow the facts and the law, wherever they may lead,” Garland said.

Only time will tell where Garland’s investigation ultimately leads — or where it doesn’t lead — but many believe Biden is especially interested in keeping the investigation alive due to his son, Hunter Biden’s, increasing appearances in the news while he awaits the results of a federal investigation into his finances.
