Democrats have mastered the art of rapidly exploiting tragedies in an effort to drum up support for their various legislative agenda — and in the wake of a series of recent mass shootings across the U.S., the trend has unsurprisingly continued.
Leading the way is President Joe Biden, who took time at a rare press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga this week to reiterate his desire to crack down on firearms and trample on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners in America, The Daily Wire reported.
Biden talks “assault weapons”
The Associated Press’s Aamer Madhani, one of two reporters called on during the presser, recounted the recent tragedies and asked Biden if it would be wise to “reprioritize” his agenda based on those events.
In response, Biden was quick to double down on his commitment to using executive powers to institute new gun control policies — policies that any reasonable person would know have no relevance to mass shootings whatsoever.
“Immediately upon us becoming an office, having an attorney general, I asked him to put together the things I could do by executive order, including dealing with new guns that can be made, you can buy in pieces and put together, and other, and other initiatives,” Biden said, referring to 3D-printed firearms and so-called “ghost guns,” neither of which are typically used in mass shootings.
“And I strongly support and continue and never stopped supporting the ban on assault weapons and magazines that hold more than 10 bullets,” Biden added, according to The Daily Wire.

“It’s just wrong”
The president also faced heavy criticism for suggesting that law-abiding firearm owners in America support high-capacity magazine bans and universal background checks, among other items on the Democrats’ gun control wishlist.
“The folks who own weapons, the folks who own guns, they support universal background checks, majority of them think we should not be selling assault weapons,” Biden said, according to The Daily Wire.
“Who in God’s name needs a weapon that can hold 100 rounds, or 40 rounds, or 20 rounds?” the president pressed. “It’s just wrong. And I’m not going to give up till it’s done.”
The 46th president also called the recent mass shootings a “national embarrassment” and demanded that Congress act to pass stricter laws pertaining to buying and owning firearms, which will, of course, only serve to punish law-abiding American gun-owners and not the street-level thugs who are the root cause of America’s high rates of gun violence.
It remains unclear exactly how far left Biden will go to rid Americans of their Second Amendment rights, but with demands from his party to move fast and aggressively, it’s likely only a matter of time before he buckles under the pressure.
