The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under President Joe Biden's leadership, is providing those who enter America illegally, via the southern border, with cell phones before releasing these individuals into the United States.

Want proof?

Take a look at this video from reporter Tayler Hansen:

It's for real.

The 15-second video clip shows a group of illegal immigrants opening the packets that they are given by the U.S. government after being processed by the DHS.

These packets include government-issued cell phones.

Breitbart News, which has extensively covered the southern border crisis, explains:

As part of that process, DHS provides some border crossers and illegal aliens with phones to track their whereabouts. Those given phones are enrolled in the Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program, which allows new arrivals to remain in the United States without being detained while waiting for their cases to come up.

Speaking about "waiting for their cases to come up," Hansen reports that some of the migrants don't have to appear in court until the year 2027. So, after illegally entering the country, apparently, they just get to hang around - in America - for four years.

Breitbart goes on to note that none of this is new. Biden and his DHS have been giving cell phones to illegal aliens for some time now. The outlet notes that "the phones cannot search the internet or make calls," but, nonetheless, the phones are costing American taxpayers in the realm of "$360,000 every day."

Background

The southern border crisis is ramping up with Title 42 coming to an end.

Title 42 is the Trump-era policy that was used to quickly expel illegal immigrants from the United States during the coronavirus pandemic. Biden has chosen not to renew the policy, and, the policy officially ended on Friday.

Many have anticipated that the end of Title 42 would prompt a surge at the border, and this appears to be what is happening.

The numbers have been at record levels in the days leading up to Friday. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents had over 10,000 migrant encounters per day for three days leading up to Friday.

Biden is hoping to get the situation under control by using Title 8 and his new asylum rule, along with increased border personnel. But, it remains to be seen whether this will be successful.
