Report: Biden open to ‘every tool’ available as Democrats plan sweeping gun reform measures

Joe Biden campaigned for office in part on a promise of imposing stricter gun control measures — and while he has yet to take any action in that regard, there have been plenty of hints that the now-president and his fellow Democrats are preparing a major crackdown.

Politico reports that Biden is said to be considering several “gun safety proposals,” and he’s willing to use “every tool” at his disposal — including executive orders and congressional legislation — to make those plans a reality.

Biden plans big moves

Citing several unnamed sources said to be familiar with Biden’s plans, Politico reported that one of the first things Biden has up his sleeve is an executive order requiring background checks on the sale of so-called “ghost guns” — firearms built at home from parts kits that don’t bear a serial number and are therefore virtually impossible for the government to track.

Other possibilities for executive actions include one closing alleged “loopholes” in current background check laws, as well as one establishing so-called “red flag” laws that allow for the removal of firearms from an individual — without due process — if they are suspected of posing a danger to themselves or others.

One anonymous White House official told Politico that the Biden administration is considering “every tool at our disposal, including executive actions” to enact restrictions on so-called “assault weapons” and “high-capacity” magazines.

They also reportedly want to repeal a law that protects the firearms manufacturing industry from frivolous lawsuits, as well as distribute special grant funding to community programs dealing with gun violence.

According to Politico, Biden may even declare a “national emergency” on gun violence that, in theory, would provide additional funding and legislative leeway for him and other Dems to take action against the Second Amendment.

A “four-prong attack”

The push for more gun control comes following a year of record-shattering gun sales across the nation, first in response to the coronavirus-related lockdowns, then as a reaction to destructive and violent riots last summer — as well as the left’s “defund the police” mantra.

Oh, and Biden’s vow to crack down on the Second Amendment as president may have had something to do with it.

Alan Gottlieb, the founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, recently told The Daily Wire that Biden is launching a “four-prong attack” against gun rights in America.

Those four prongs include “universal background checks” — which is cover for a national registry of firearms and gun owners, he charged — as well as an “assault weapons” ban targeting normal semi-automatic weapons; a “high-capacity” magazine restriction outlawing normal-sized, standard-issue magazines; and a repeal of liability protections for the firearms industry, which is specifically intended to put companies out of business, according to Gottlieb

None of this is acceptable or in line with the Second Amendment — but let’s be honest. When have Democrats ever cared about the Constitution?
