U.S. President Joe Biden, in his latest gaffe, incorrectly referred to the Mississippi town that was recently devastated by a tornado as "rolling stone."

Not only did he get the name of the town completely wrong, but, according to Fox News, he did so while he was giving a speech in the Mississippi town.

It does not get much worse than that.

Background

The actual Mississippi town that was recently devastated by an EF4 tornado is Rolling Fork.

According to the National Weather Service, the "EF Scale" - or "Enhanced Fujita Scale" - "is used to assign a tornado a 'rating' based on estimated wind speeds and related damage." A 4 on the EF scale refers to a tornado with wind gusts of between 166 and 200 miles per hour.

The tornado that struck Rolling Fork began last Saturday. It started near Rolling Fork and, before it was said it done, it moved 30 miles northeast through Silver City. Altogether, it was on the ground for some 80 miles.

Not only did the tornado cause significant destruction in the area, but it also caused a significant loss of human life. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency reports that at least 25 people were killed as a result of the tornado.

Biden's gaffe

On Friday - roughly a week after the tornado struck - Biden made a trip to Rolling Fork. There, he gave a speech, and it was during this speech that Biden made the gaffe.

Biden said:

We're not just here for today. I'm determined that we're going to leave nothing behind. We're going to get it done for you. I'm making sure you got a place to sleep, food to eat, helping you rebuild your lives in Rolling Stone.

To make matters worse, this was not the only time that Biden, during the speech, mistakenly referred to Rolling Fork as "Rolling Stone."

"The town of Rolling Stone will be back, and we'll be with you every step of the way," Biden said at another point in the speech.

"What did I say?"

As the reader will likely know, this kind of gaffe is not uncharacteristic of Biden - far from it, in fact. It does not always happen, but, on this particular occasion, Biden did manage to - eventually - recognize his error.

Toward the end of his speech, Biden said, "What did I say? I said Rolling Fork. Rolling Stone. I got my mind going here."

What exactly Biden got his "mind going" on is anyone's guess. Apparently, though, not Rolling Fork.
