President Joe Biden’s approval ratings have dipped as the crisis at the border continues to worsen.
The most recent Rasmussen Reports survey found that Biden’s approval ratings have dropped from 52% positive to 49% positive among likely voters polled. This poll was conducted at the same time as another Rasmussen poll that found 67% of likely voters believe there is a crisis on the southern border, the Washington Examiner reported.
It is likely that the president’s approval numbers are being driven down by his performance in handling the border crisis and Biden has done himself no favors by trying to deny the reality of the situation.
Honeymoon is over
The honeymoon period is over and for Biden, it has ended badly. Americans are beginning to forget about former President Donald Trump and are instead focusing on Biden and his performance.
Biden’s promises to immigrants have spurred a race to the border and the situation is only growing worse even as the Biden administration’s denials grow louder. While Vice President Kamala Harris laughs, 67% of Americans know this is a crisis.
Americans are slowly coming to the realization that Trump’s immigration policies deterred thousands from making the dangerous crossing. Democrats’ plans of providing broad amnesty have only worsened the problem, perhaps intentionally.
The reckless and irresponsible actions of Biden and the Democratic Party have led to thousands of children overwhelming detention centers. Biden’s attacks on Trump for keeping “kids in cages,” have aged horribly.
Biden must act quickly
Democrats have been in power for just over three months and they have already demonstrated that they are not fit to lead the nation. This is the first challenge that Biden has had to face and so far he is failing terribly.
Biden created this crisis and he needs to move quickly both to acknowledge his role in it as well as his plan to fix it.
As noted by Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA), “I think the administration and the HHS Secretary needs to own up to this. There’s no question about it. Look, this president has ruled by executive order. He has implemented more executive orders in a short period of time than any president, any modern president has.”
Biden needs to continue what Trump was doing if he wants to solve this crisis.
Biden must tell immigrants to wait in Mexico and push them toward channels of legal immigration. That means mass deportations and a strong message that illegal entry into the United States will not be rewarded.
