One of Joe Biden’s highest priorities during his term in the Oval Office has been to promote abortion.
He’s even, in the face of the Supreme Court overturning Roe, insisted that he can change the “rules” for hospitals nationwide and demand they violate state laws to do abortion.
Now he’s taking it a step further.
He wants to demand that medical workers have no conscience rights when abortion is involved.
Hill explains that he’s planning to reverse a rule created during the Trump administration that recognized the rights of medical workers to decline to perform abortions based on their faith.
Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services announced it is demanding to “restore the longstanding process for the handling of conscience complaints and provide additional safeguards to protect against conscience and religious discrimination.”
The announcement suggests the Biden administration believes that a Christian doctor declining to kill an unborn baby at the demand of a patient is discriminating against the religious beliefs of the patient.
It’s part of Biden’s promotion of abortion, literally around the globe, as more conservative states have begun imposing abortion limits, as the Supreme Court determined they are constitutionally allowed to do.
Biden’s plan would “partially rescind the Trump administration’s 2019 rule that would have stripped federal funding from health facilities that required workers to provide any service they objected to, like abortions, contraception, gender-affirming care, and sterilization.”
Of course, the other priority for the Biden administration has been to promote transgenderism, especially to children.
HHS’ statement claimed, “Some doctors, nurses, and hospitals, for example, object for religious or moral reasons to providing or referring for abortions or assisted suicide, among other procedures.”
It added, however, that “patients also have autonomy, rights, and moral and religious convictions. And they have health needs, sometime[s] urgent ones. Our health care systems must effectively deliver services to all who need them in order to protect patient’s health and dignity.”
Under the argument of patient “rights,” the Biden administration wants those wanting a specific medical procedure to be able to force doctors to provide it, even to the point of killing an unborn child or killing the patient.
The 2019 rule remained the subject of court fights, and the Hill said “progressives” were happy with Biden’s abortion agenda.
The abortion-promoting ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project’s Alexa Kolbi-Molinas said, “At a time when health care access is under attack across the country, it is even more imperative that this illegal and harmful rule be repealed. Other people’s beliefs do not give them license to discriminate, to deny essential care, or to cause harm to others.”
A report at Just the News noted that the basis of the Trump plan was that healthcare workers cannot be forced to perform services that violate their religious beliefs.
It’s exactly that that Biden is trying to achieve.
