Biden accuser Tara Reade faces barrage of attacks on social media

Why do so many women hesitate to come forward with allegations of sexual assault against big-name politicians and Hollywood stars?

Look no further than the case of Tara Reade, who has faced a barrage of attacks on social media and even death threats since coming forward with her allegation of sexual assault against former Vice President Joe Biden, Breitbart reports. It got so bad, in fact, that she was forced to cancel a Friday interview with Fox News, according to Mediaite.

What #MeToo?

Now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation hearings lit a fire under the so-called #MeToo movement. On the surface, it sounded great: a movement to ensure women who were assaulted would finally have a voice.

There is a fine line, though, between giving victims a voice and encouraging bogus complaints.

During the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, Democrats — including Joe Biden — did not wait for the claims to be investigated; they immediately assumed the accusers were telling the truth and called for Kavanaugh to pull his nomination.

Over time, the allegations were debunked and Kavanaugh was confirmed — but if you are looking for Democrat and liberal apologies for spoiling the justice’s reputation, don’t hold your breath.

On the attack

Now that the allegations are against their own prized candidate — be they real or made up — all the same people who slammed Kavanaugh are now saying the victim is lying.

Not only are they discrediting Reade without a true investigation, but they are also blatantly attacking her, as Breitbart reported. Jon Cooper, who has major ties to Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and the Democratic Party at large, hinted in a recent tweet that Reade could be mentally imbalanced.

Moreover, according to Breitbart, a New Hampshire Democrat argued that Reade “is looking for attention,” and stated that due to the position of her genitals, she had to be complicit in the assault if it happened.

The graphic tweet, which has since been deleted, prompted Rep. Richard Komi, of Manchester, to resign from his seat on the New Hampshire state legislature, according to CBS Boston.

Only time will tell if others tarnishing Reade’s name will be similarly held to account.
