Attorney General Bill Barr broke the news on Sunday that he considers violent acts from radical leftist groups like Antifa to be part of “a new form of urban guerrilla warfare.”
According to Fox News, Barr said in an interview with network host Mark Levin that the violence, which started in the wake of the death of 46-year-old George Floyd in Minneapolis in late May, is derived from what he called a “lust for power.”
“That’s where they swim”
Indeed, what were once peaceful protests over the death of a Black man in police custody quickly turned violent and even deadly in some cases. But Barr has been fighting back every step of the way — and his latest interview is just the latest evidence of that.
According to Fox, the attorney general called Black Lives Matter “a revolutionary group that is interested in some form of socialism, communism.”
“They’re essentially Bolsheviks,” he said, according to Fox. “Their tactics are fascistic.”
Barr went on to explain to Levin how radical leftists like those aligned with Antifa are using “guerrilla” warfare to their advantage.
“The way the guerrilla…hides out among the people as a fish in the ocean…what they do is they are essentially shielding themselves or shrouding themselves in First Amendment activity,” Barr said, according to Fox.
He continued: “They go into the demonstrations, which are exercising First Amendment activity, and they insinuate themselves in there to shield themselves. That’s where they swim. And what they do is they hijack these demonstrations and they and they provoke violence.”
“The desire for power”
Barr also said Sunday that he believes the violence stems from the same force that is driving leftists’ push to remove President Donald Trump from office. “I think it’s because of the desire for power that the left wants,” Barr said, according to Fox.
“They want to run people’s lives so they can design utopia for all of us,” Barr added, as Fox reported. “And it’s the lust for power. And they weren’t expecting Trump’s victory. And it outrages them.”
According to Fox, Barr also blasted the mainstream media for essentially covering it all up. “You don’t see it on the networks,” he lamented to Levin. “You don’t see it on the other cable stations. And yet you hear about these peaceful demonstrators. So, it’s you know, it’s just it’s a lie. The American people are being told a lie by the media.”
Tell us something we don’t know, Mr. Attorney General.
