Barr: DOJ is ‘heavily engaged’ in countering China’s ‘full-court blitzkrieg’ against the US

Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Chinese communist regime has been engaged in a full-bore propaganda campaign to shift blame and absolve itself of any responsibility for failing to contain the virus early on — or warn the world of what was to come.

But Attorney General Bill Barr revealed in an interview Wednesday that this was all just one aspect of the Chinese government’s “full-court blitzkrieg” against the United States — and according to the Daily Wire, Barr said his Justice Department is stepping up efforts to fight back.

“Heavily engaged”

According to the Daily Wire, Barr sat down for an interview outside the White House on Wednesday with Fox News host Laura Ingraham — and China was one of several important topics discussed.

Ingraham reportedly noted that, aside from the fact that the coronavirus originated in China, little else is known about COVID-19 due to limited and untrustworthy information released by the country’s communist regime. Given the “ongoing propaganda machine of China” inside the U.S. — and the regime’s apparent infiltration of numerous societal institutions to help spread that propaganda — Ingraham asked if the Department of Justice (DOJ) would have any involvement in addressing that problem.

“Yes. The Department is heavily engaged in that,” Barr replied, according to the Daily Wire. “In fact that’s one of our highest priorities in the counterintelligence realm, counter-espionage realm, and protection of trade secrets as our activities directed to defend against the Chinese.

“The Chinese are engaged in a full-court blitzkrieg of stealing American technology, trying to influence our political system, trying to steal secrets at our research universities and so forth,” he continued. “And we are focused on it. We have something we call the China Initiative. We’ve brought a lot of indictments, but it’s something that we also have to expose by letting the business community understand exactly the nature of the threat.”

A greater threat than Russia

Ingraham later asked, all things considered, whether China or Russia posed a greater threat to the U.S. in terms of election integrity and security. Without hesitation, Barr pointed the finger at China.

“In my opinion it’s China,” the attorney general said, according to the Daily Wire. “And not just to the election process, but I think across the board there’s simply no comparison. China is a very serious threat to the United States geopolitically, economically, militarily, and a threat to the integrity of our institutions given their ability to influence things.”

Barr went on to note that his department is working closely with a number of universities and businesses to inform them of the inherent risks of doing business with or allowing themselves to be co-opted by the Chinese. Earlier in the interview, he also suggested that potential bright spots of the “horrible” and “tragic” pandemic were that it would, hopefully, fuel a resurgence in appreciation for having control over the nation’s borders and vital supply chains.

The communist Chinese regime has indeed been dishonest and sought to take advantage of the U.S. for far too long — and Barr just let it be known that his Justice Department is doing what it can to address and counter the regime’s lies and thievery wherever possible.
