Barack Obama makes plea to protect Affordable Care Act

While the coronavirus pandemic rages across the globe, former President Barack Obama’s No. 1 priority remains his landmark project: the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

While Americans are worried about how they will feed their families and keep their houses, Obama is begging lawmakers to protect his legacy against “political attack,” the Washington Examiner reports.

Now is not the time

The Democrats have been shameless in generating partisan attacks and misinformation during the coronavirus outbreak. When they are not doing that, they are trying to score political points.

The coronavirus crisis has brought to light the weaknesses in our healthcare system, and Obama — along with his Democrat cronies — is only too willing to take the opportunity to push socialized healthcare as the solution.

As an aside, you would think Obama would remain quiet right now considering the recent reports that his administration failed to restock the N95 mask supply after the H1N1 crisis, but instead, he is making pitches for Obamacare.

Fixing healthcare in America

Much to Obama’s chagrin, the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare, has been gradually dismantled during the Trump administration.

Obama has found the perfect opportunity to champion the ACA as the coronavirus crisis intensifies.

However, Obama’s tweet was filled with mostly lies. For instance, after Obamacare went into effect, many Americans saw their costs go through the roof. He also dishonestly ignores the fact that time and again, President Trump has vowed to protect pre-existing conditions.

This, of course, does not even account for the Americans who could not afford their old insurance plans once Obamacare was enacted and then were then forced to pay costly fines due to the individual mandate’s violation penalties.

Finally, we have to ask why Obama is not burning up the phones to get his old donors to help financially in the areas of greatest need at this critical moment. Why is Obama’s former Vice President Joe Biden holding daily conferences to undermine the coronavirus response efforts of the Trump administration?

Both of them should be putting politics aside to help America right now, not to push their personal political agendas.
