Steven Bannon, a 2016 chief campaign strategist and briefly a top aide for former President Donald Trump, has been targeted for arrested and prosecution by overtly anti-Trump law enforcement.
Bannon will reportedly turn himself in on Thursday in New York City ahead of an anticipated indictment from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Breitbart reported.
Though the alleged indictment reportedly remains sealed at this time, it is believed to be related to the role Bannon played in the “We Build the Wall” fundraiser effort that purportedly defrauded donors of approximately $25 million in contributions to fund a privately-constructed section of wall along the nation’s southern border.
Yet another indictment against Bannon
News of the impending indictment against Bannon came from The Washington Post via a leak from unnamed sources said to be “familiar with the matter” in the Manhattan DA’s office.
Bannon was previously indicted in 2020 by the Justice Department on federal charges related to the border wall fundraiser but received a pardon from Trump before he left office. However, as the Post noted, presidential pardons only apply at the federal level and have no bearing on state-level criminal charges.
Notably, this new indictment from New York prosecutors comes just a few months after Bannon was convicted by a Washington D.C. jury on an absurd contempt of Congress charge that stemmed from his adamant refusal to comply with a subpoena issued by the highly partisan anti-Trump House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot of 2021.
Bannon not going down quietly
In response to that report from The Washington Post, Bannon issued a fiery statement that was shared on social media Tuesday night by NBC News reporter Kristen Welker.

“Just days after being swatted three different times by deranged thugs from New York City inspired by the Biden Administration to assassinate me by police, the Soros-backed DA has now decided to pursue phony charges against me 60 days before the midterm election because WarRoom is the major source of the MAGA grassroots movement,” Bannon said.
“The SDNY did the exact same thing in August 2020 to try to take me out of the election,” he continued. “It didn’t work then, it certainly won’t work now. This is nothing more than a partisan political weaponization of the criminal justice system.”
“I am proud to be a leading voice on protecting our borders and building a wall to keep our country safe from drugs and violent criminals. The WarRoom show will be more vital, more intense, more urgent, and bigger this time,” Bannon said of the controversial fundraiser effort and his own “WarRoom” podcast program.
“They are coming after all of us, not only President Trump and myself,” he added. “I am never going to stop fighting. In fact, I have not yet begun to fight. They will have to kill me first.”
