As Democrats start pointing fingers over the 2024 election results, few are publicly blaming Kamala Harris for her landslide loss to Donald Trump. But insiders admit that she deserves the blame, along with "arrogant" campaign staff who are clueless about what Americans care about.
A Democratic whistleblower shared a blunt assessment of Harris' crushing defeat with the New York Post, saying she lost because she was a "s--- candidate."
Some Democrats have attempted to blame Harris' loss on Joe Biden, arguing he was stubborn about seeking re-election despite age concerns.
Harris' campaign launch gave Democrats an initial burst of hope after Biden, following a disastrous debate performance, was strong-armed out of the race by Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
But that hope eventually faded as Harris struggled to separate herself from Biden's unpopular record on the border and inflation. Harris left many voters with only vague ideas about her own agenda, responding to many questions with rambling, roundabout answers.
“She was a s--- candidate and Trump made her look worse than Hillary Clinton,” said one source.
“Biden didn’t deserve that treatment and he got pushed out for an empty pantsuit. At least Biden beat Trump and Hillary Clinton had more balls than either of them,” the source said further.
Others blame "arrogant" staff for misreading voters who were concerned about kitchen table issues like the economy. Harris' campaign was mainly about abortion, and her closing argument was a character attack comparing Trump to a dictator.
One person said that Obama veterans, like David Plouffe, awkwardly attempted to replicate Barack Obama's energy with a "non-Obama candidate." Harris collapsed because "people didn’t connect with her," the person admitted.
"Biden should have never run [in 2024] AND the party is too far left," the person said.
Harris' loss was incredibly expensive, leaving her campaign in debt to the tune of $20 million after $1 billion in spending. Despite a huge cash advantage and fawning media coverage, Harris wasn't able to close the deal on Election Day.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who led the effort to force Biden out, was on the verge of tears as Harris delivered a fiery concession speech Wednesday.
While some Democrats privately acknowledge that Harris was an awful candidate, the left as a whole is in a state of rage and denial. Unless they are willing to learn from their mistakes, they will just keep repeating them.
