Armed citizen stops rifle-carrying man in Missouri Walmart

The country has been rocked by tragedy after tragedy in the last few weeks. But in the midst of all these recent mass shootings, a hero has emerged. The reality of life is that the police can’t be everywhere at all times. That is why to protect yourself you must carry your own weapon.

Case in point, thanks to an armed off-duty firefighter, a heavily armed man was stopped in a Walmart in Springfield, Missouri.

Guns save lives

It all started when 20-year-old Dmitriy Andreychenko walked into a Walmart in Springfield, Missouri.

He had a rifle, body armor, and over 100 rounds of ammunition. Open carry of weapons is legal in Missouri unless you display the weapon in a threatening manner.

With the El Paso and Dayton shootings freshly in mind; people panicked and the fire alarm was pulled.

The man was detained by an off duty firefighter who was armed. The police said the man is “lucky to be alive” after creating that kind of situation.

Missouri is not the kind of place you want to try and go on a killing spree. For that matter any state with a large armed population. The media doesn’t want to admit it, but good people with guns can do a lot more to save lives than police alone.

Had the man opened fire, dozens could have been killed. It would have taken police at least 5 minutes to get on scene. For many, that would have been 5 minutes too long.

As it turns out, Andreychenko apparently didn’t intend to shoot anyone — he told police that he was testing whether Walmart would honor his second amendment rights. But of course, there was no way for anyone in the store to know that.

Armed citizens to the rescue

The firefighter who stopped the armed man is just another of many who have stepped forward, potentially saving many lives. Last May in Oklahoma an armed citizen stopped a mass shooter after the would-be shooter opened fire in a restaurant.

Dozens of mass shootings have been prevented by armed citizens. The media simply refuses to talk about them because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

There are countless unsung heroes among us, armed citizens exercising their god-given rights to keep and bear arms.

In light of these mass shootings, all good Americans need to be able to defend themselves and those around them. We cannot allow ourselves to rely on police response alone. The best way to avert tragedy is to be ready.
