‘So Awkward’ star Archie Lyndhurst dead at 19 after ‘short illness’: Reports

The young star of a popular British television series has died unexpectedly, leaving fans and colleagues stunned by the news.

Archie Lyndhurst, a 19-year-old actor who portrayed main character Ollie Coulton in the CBBC series So Awkward, died this week after a brief illness, as reported by Fox News.

“Very sadly died after a short illness”

As far as available reports indicate, Lyndhurst had no known chronic health issues prior to the recent illness. The network issued a statement via tweet expressing grief over the loss and sympathy to fans of his “brilliantly” portrayed on-screen persona.

“Archie will be hugely missed by all who worked with him, and by all the fans who laughed along with Ollie in the show,” the CBBC statement concluded.

In addition to an outpouring of condolences and memories from his many fans, Lyndhurst’s girlfriend offered a heartfelt public eulogy, as reported by People.

“A boy in a white beanie with his skateboard, swaggered through two wooden doors with an unimaginable lust for life down the hallway of Sylvia Young Theatre School,” recalled Nethra Tilakumara, his So Awkward costar, in an Instagram post on Friday.

“Luckiest girl in the world”

She concluded by thanking Lyndhurst for making her the “luckiest girl in the world.”

Despite his young age, he already had a significant resume prior to accepting the role of Ollie in 2015.

According to his IMDb profile, his first credit came in 2011 for a role in Little Crackers. From there, he appeared in several television shows and provided voices for two different video games.

His last credit is as the star of The Infectious Imagination of Harry Bramble, a short film currently in post-production.

Whatever the cause of his untimely death, 19 is far too young for a life with such promise to be cut short.
