Appeals court hands Trump big immigration win

Trump just keeps on winning, despite Democrat efforts to sabotage him. Trump stunned his enemies when a federal appeals court sided with him, handing a big loss to sanctuary cities.

Despite the political activism rampant among low-level judiciaries, Trump is pushing forward in his quest to combat illegal immigration. At this point, Trump’s worst enemy is time.

Fighting Sanctuary Cities

Trump has been fighting sanctuary cities, which act as hotbeds for crime. The federal appeals court sided with the Trump administration, saying rewarding cooperative cities was legal.

The Washington Times reports that “a federal appeals court sided Friday with the Trump administration’s effort to punish sanctuary cities, ruling that the federal government can reward communities that cooperate with ICE on deportations.”

The case originated when Los Angeles sued the Trump administration for coercion.

According to The Crime Report, “the ruling amounts to a victory for President Trump in his quest to bring into line jurisdictions that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.”

This will have a large impact. Cities that don’t cooperate will not receive DOJ law enforcement grants.

The Battle Continues

While this is a major victory, there is still a long way to go. Cracking down on sanctuary cities will still be legally difficult. But in spite of that, every victory matters.

Fox News reports:

“The department is pleased that the court recognized the lawful authority of the administration to provide favorable treatment when awarding discretionary law enforcement grants to jurisdictions that assist in enforcing federal immigration laws,” the DOJ said in a statement.”

Sanctuary cities are putting citizens at risk. As much as progressives want us to forget people like Kate Steinle, who was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant in a sanctuary city, we most certainly won’t.

If you live in a sanctuary city, you not only have to worry about ordinary crime levels common to urban areas, but also the threat posed by illegal aliens.

Hopefully, the Trump administration pushes on to make America safer.
