AOC wants to use your tax dollars to research magic mushrooms
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) introduced new legislation this week, and it is something nobody in the House was really expecting.
AOC is now supporting the legalization of magic mushrooms.
Legalizing ‘Social’ Drugs
Part of the problem today, at least according to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, is that not enough drugs have been legalized. She stated, “We need to get drugs and drug use out of criminal consideration and into medical consideration.”
With marijuana quickly becoming legal in every state for either recreation or medicinal purposes, psilocybin and ecstasy should be next according to the 29-year-old representative.
On Friday, she filed legislation to help make that dream come true. AOC believes drugs like psilocybin (magic mushrooms) should be legal to treat conditions such as headaches and pain.
Her new legislation would use government funds to pay for the research.
Movement Already Starting
Shockingly, there are already several states with this legislation either in the works or that has been passed.
Denver became the first city to legalize magic mushrooms last month. In the mile-high city, mushrooms are now legal to use both for “personal use and personal possession.”
Oakland quickly followed suit, legalizing mushrooms last week.
Ocasio-Cortez used the legalization of marijuana as one of her platform issues when running for Congress.
Her take was rather interesting, in that she stated it would help “promote racial justice.”
AOC’s fellow legislators in New York have fallen in line in terms of legalizing marijuana for medicinal use, but the state has yet to pass legislation making marijuana legal for recreational use.
