Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has a rather interesting way of classifying all of the freebies that she and Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT) plan on handing out if Sanders wins the Oval Office.
In case anyone had any doubts about Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders’ plans for redistributing our hard-earned money, the congresswoman cleared up the confusion by renaming government handouts as “public goods” to which any and all are entitled to receive, the Washington Examiner reports.
If Bernie wins
Ocasio-Cortez sounds like she already plans on being Bernie’s vice president with her latest talking points.
It is no secret that most Democrats are going to have a hard time pulling the handle for a socialist, even against Donald Trump. Clearly, Ocasio-Cortez is trying to flip the script on the current narrative by changing the wording of proposed government handouts such as tuition-free college, medicare-for-all, and public housing that are central tenets of the platform.
The freshman congresswoman proclaimed: “It’s not that we deserve it because it’s a handout. People like to say, ‘Oh, this is about free stuff.’ This is not about free stuff … These are public goods. They’re public goods.”
She went on: “So I never want to hear the word or the term ‘free stuff’ ever again…because I’m tired of already hearing some of these neoliberal folks who are trying to like flip the script on us.”
Public education, libraries, & infrastructure policies (which we‘ve had before in America and elsewhere in the world!) are not “free stuff.”
They are PUBLIC GOODS.
And they are worth investing in, protecting, & advancing for all society and future generations.

Exposing her true intentions
The problem, though, is that most hardworking Americans are not buying what Ocasio-Cortez is trying to sell them.
The fact of the matter is that these are not public goods because, in order for that to be true, everyone would have to be paying an equal share to have the same entitlement, and we all know that will not be the case.
Successful Americans are going to see the fruits of their labor redistributed to those who have fared less well in life, and middle-class Americans are going to get wiped out altogether by the taxes they would have to pay to support these “public goods.”
All Ocasio-Cortez’s proposals do is cripple the private sector and create a nationwide dependency on the government.
Actually, after further thought, Ocasio-Cortez might be right in saying these “public goods” are not freebies, because they will literally cost us everything — including the identity of the country for which our Founding Fathers shed their blood more than two centuries ago.
