AOC stabs Biden and Harris in the back, calls administration’s immigration policy ‘inhumane’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has betrayed President Joe Biden, calling his immigration policy “wrong” and “inhumane.”

Ocasio-Cortez didn’t stop at stabbing Biden in the back; she also went after Vice President Kamala Harris. In what was a major change in messaging, Harris warned migrants during a trip to Guatemala not to come to the U.S. border. Ocasio-Cortez alleged that Harris’ comments were a “precursor” to violence against migrants.

Ocasio-Cortez is creating a nightmare situation for Democrats that Republicans can take advantage of. Even though Harris has been absent on the border crisis, she at least knows the Biden administration needs to pretend to be doing something, and Ocasio-Cortez is blowing her cover.

Schism reemerging

“I think the issue here, and first of all, I think this is not just about the vice president. This is about the Biden administration’s immigration policy writ large is not working. It’s wrong, and it’s inhumane,” Ocasio-Cortez said during an interview Tuesday on MSNBC.

The congresswoman continued, “We cannot, as a country, no matter who it is, continue to show up in Latin America and say that this is their fault, or that they are to blame, right? Because this seems like almost a precursor to say — in saying that we are going to allege that you are coming to this country illegally, when seeking asylum on our border is, in fact, legal, and use that to pre-date any violence that we are willing to inflict on immigrants as a deterrent.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s bombshell accusations have re-exposed a schism that Democrats buried back in 2018. The young radical wing of the Democratic Party, led by the likes of Ocasio-Cortez, is in open disagreement with the old guard Democrats once again.

Democrats buried that division in the interest of resisting former President Trump, who is now out of the picture. With Trump gone, that unification has been crumbling.

Ocasio-Cortez is sure to be joined by other radical Democrats who view immigration in the same way. That could kick off a fight between Democrats at a time when they only have a razor-thin majority in the House.

Who will win?

The clock is ticking, and Democrats don’t have time for infighting if they want to implement Biden’s agenda.

If Ocasio-Cortez and the radical Democrats kick off an open war with old-guard Democrats, the question then is who will win. The Democratic Party is divided internally, and a schism could devastate them in the 2022 midterms.

Radical Democrats were already rejected on the ballot as the socialist label drove Florida into the welcoming arms of the Republican Party.

However, despite their ballot failures, the radical wing of the Democratic Party has a growing support base. The time to pass big legislation is now, and Democrats can’t do that if they are having a war for the party’s identity.
